Message:Does anyone know how to get different clefs in different layers of the same staff? I am trying to write percussion parts that have no particular clef requirements, except that the choice of clefs for percussion do not have bass clef assignments. They are all treble clefs that just look like non-clefs, if you know what I mean. I need to put snare or general percussion readable parts on the first layer and put playable parts in the 2nd, 3rd or 4th layer (depending on the instrument or the piece of music). The problem is that the midi sound for the snare is on the first leger line below the bass clef. If I use any of the "percussion clefs" (which are basically treble clefs) in the first layer, then the playable layer ends up with the notes needing to be placed 7 or 8 leger lines below the staff. This is awkward to read to trouble shoot and update easily. I suppose that I could design my own clef, but then I still have the problem if I want to write xylophone parts and then give the player a tambourine or cowbell or some other percussion instrument to play which would require bass clef for playback. I am already using the first three layers for playback of the xylophone parts since there are some places requiring a switch to vibrophone. The entire readable part is in the first layer, xylo playback in layer 2, vibe playback in layer 3, and percussion toys in layer 4. Any help would be appreciated.Warren Barnett
