double sharps in Notepad?
Message:In an older version of Notepad, the "sharp" command would move the note up a semitone. In the newer version, the "sharp" command leaves notes alone that are already sharp in the keysignature. Here is a recent scenario: I am arranging a piece in Amajor. At one point, I wanted to put in an Fdoublesharp. I could not see anywhere how to change Fsharp into an Fdoublesharp. I suppose I could just change the note to Gnatural, but then it might not be interpreted as the leading tone that it is. Or, I could type in the double sharp using the Maestro font. But then any double sharps won't sound when I listen to the midi to check for any errors in harmony. Or I could change the key to Aflat, make the then Fnatural into an Fsharp and then change the key back to A. Surely there is a less unwieldy approach. Many thanks. -EJMorris
