I know one way.
1. Play the file with your playback tool (or transfer your file into a midi file and play that one on your pc.)
2. Record your music with (for example) soundforge or an other recorder. Now you have a .wav file
3. Convert your wav file to a mp3 with (for example) audio catalyst. Look at www.download.com for converting programs.
4. Now you have a mp3. But most modern pc's can play midi files. So if you send a midi to your friends they hear the same.
And can even see the notes (sometimes that's a pitty)
