I use Linux as my primary development platform where I work (I'm an applications developer) and Linux offers stability that you won't find in the Windows world. Well written programs almost never crash in the *NIX world and you don't have to worry about the operating system running out of resources under normal use.

Having used both Windows 9x and NT for quite some time, I've found that they have to be rebooted several times per week to prevent crashes under normal use. My Linux box typically runs 3-6 months before I reboot and even then it's usually for a hardware change. Being able to run Finale on Linux would get me out of Windows completely.
