Re: Beaming over Barlines!!!
Message:I fully agree.Regarding beaming over barlines: There is still no way to "easily beam over barlines". Several workarounds have been invented. These workarounds are not fast and easy, but they work. One of them even works over system breaks, namely John Greschak's Smart Line Trick: To get a flag-less 8th: 1. Use a tuplet: A quarter in the space of an 8th. In Speedy Entry you can type (Windows) Ctrl-1 or (Macintosh) Option-1 (one) to bring up the Tuplet Definition dialog box. Define the tuplet as "1 Quarter in the space of 1 Eighth". Hide the tuplet number and the tuplet bracket. 2. Hit Return to go back to the score, and hit '5' to enter a quarter. To beam the flag-less note across a barline: 1. Note the beam thickness in the document: Go to Options menu > Document Settings > Beaming... - and copy the beam thickness to the clipboard (Windows: Ctrl-C ; Macintosh: Command-C). Go back to the score. 2. Since this beaming is across a system break, switch to Scroll View before proceeding. 3. Smart Shape Tool. Option-click the Custom Line Tool. 4. In the Smart Line Style Selection, select the ordinary line (third line from top). Click "Duplicate". Click "Edit..." 5. Paste the number from the clipboard as line thickness (W: Ctrl-V ; M: Command-V). Hit Return two times to go back to the score. 6. Double-click and drag to insert the smart shape. Peter
