Re: A major effect for playback is lacking!!
Message:Actually it is possible to get crescendo playback with one note. But Finale's way of handling crescendo is not exactly elegant. Finale is a music notation program, not a sequencer program. In this example let's say that you have an accordion score with a whole note and that you want a crescendo playback on the whole note. You can get the crescendo by editing the Continuous Data: 1. Switch to MIDI Tool. Double-click the measure with the whole note. The MIDI Tool window appears. 2. In the bottom of the MIDI Tool window you can see the measure with the whole note. And you can see a handle on the whole note. Drag across the handle to select the whole note. 3. In the left side of the MIDI Tool window there are six icons above each other. Icon #3 from the top is the Continuous Data icon. Click it. The View Continuous Data dialog box appears. 4. In the right side of the View Continuous Data dialog box there is a pop up menu. Click it, and select #7 Volume. Click OK. The MIDI Tool window now displays a graphic representation of the volume. Drag across the graphic to select it. 5. MIDI Tool menu > Scale... The Scale dialog box appears. To get a crescendo from nothing to full volume, let the scaling go from zero to 127 in absolute values. Read the manual for further details. Peter
