quarter/eighth triplet

I don't understand why Simple Entry won't let you do the quarter/eighth triplet. It works fine for me. In this example let's say that you want to enter a quarter/eighth triplet on the last beat of the measure. And let's say that both the notes are A's. The following entry string in Simple Entry work...

Tuplet Tool

This is a frequently asked question. What many users miss, is the fact that there are two Tuplet tools: 1. The Tuplet Tool on the main tool palette. This tool is the tool for all sorts of editing tuplets already entered. You normally don't need this tool for entering tuplets. 2. The Tuplet (sub-)Too...

Finale 2006-MultiMeasure Rests

As Far As I Know, the error is in the Jazz Font Default file.
For multimeasure rests in the Jazz Font Default file you probably will prefer shape #15 which has a "manuscript" look.

Finale 2004 in Mac OS X 10.4.4

1. It would help to know what troubleshooting tricks you have tried already. Did you e. g. repair permissions after the 10.4.4 update? It's always a good idea to repair remissions after installing an update. 2. From MakeMusic's website you can download a free update to Finale 2004c. Couldn't hurt. 3...

Tablature

1. Forget about the auto tablature plug-in. That's for Finale 2002 and earlier (if I recall correctly). In Finale 2003 and later, just enter the music in the upper staff (the Standard Notation staff). Then, in Mass Edit Tool, select the music, and drag it to the TAB staff. 2. To create the circular ...

What version of Finale are you using?

You can enter the circle as a note expression.

Slash Notation

To get the Slash Notation, use the Staff Tool. Slash Notation is an Alternate Notation. You can set the staff to display Slash Notation globally (in all measures of the staff) in the Staff Attributes for the staff. You can display Slash Notation locally (only in selected regions of the staff) with a...

Arrow in margin

Assuming that you are using Finale 2006: 1. My first guess is that the arrow was created in the Measure Tool as an option in the Measure Attributes for the first measure of that system: "Begin a New Staff System" As the text says, this option ensures that the measure is always positioned as the firs...

comeuntome, What program are you using? What version? What do you mean when you tell that the "second page is half the size! (A4)"? Do you mean that the first page is an A3 size, and the second page is an A4 size (= half the size of A3)? Or do you mean that the first page is an A4 size, and the seco...

Take a look in the window Instrument List.

Percussion playback sounds are on Channel 10.

So you should change the channel to Channel 10, and you will have the percussion sounds.

Trill playback

OK, now I can duplicate the problem. It seems that the trill on the Gb-Bb two-note-chord is interpreted with Bb and Cb when the Gb is in the same layer as the Bb. It gets even weirder if the Gb is in Voice 2 (try it - I dare you!) The trill is interpreted correctly with Bb and C when the Gb is in an...

Easy Parts

...Another complicated problem is the case with a large score where two instrument parts (e. g. Oboe 1 and Oboe 2) are notated in the same staff in the score. Part extraction is already complicated when you want to extract that staff into two separate instrument parts. Things become even more compli...

Trill playback

In Finale 2006b I'm unable to duplicate your problem.

Are you using the full Finale 2006 or the free NotePad 2006?

Are you entering the trill symbols with the Smart Shape Tool?

Take a look in the window Playback Controls.
What playback style are you using for the Human Playback?

"Check for Extra Notes"

Redefining the Time Signature

Bob,

These steps work for me:

1. Insert an empty measure before the first measure.

2. Change the time signature for the whole piece from 6/8 to 4/4.
Don't forget to select the option "Rebar Music".

Human Playback could be the culprit, so setting Human Playback to None might fix the problem.

AnthemWorks,

It can be done manually, but why bother when you can let a plug-in do the job for you?

Jari Williamson has created a plug-in called JW Tempo.
Take a look at it.
I think that it does exactly what you need.

You can find the plug-in at

Glenn, You can do it with staff styles. The secret is to toggle on "Select Partial Measures" in the Edit menu. acidbahia, It's possible, but only with a workaround: The Chord Tool can't rotate fretboard diagrams, so you have to create the symbols manually in the Shape Designer.
