Where is the "Use category fonts" check box?
It is in the Expression Designer:

Re: print publishing file types/specs

Instead of using bitmap graphics, how about using vector graphics? Are you saying that InDesign does not support vector graphics? If you from Finale export as PDF, you will get a vector graphic (= no “resolution”, described in mathematical formulas, will always print at the best possible resolution).

Re: Hiding Flags on Specific Notes

You need to hide a flag, right?

I am not sure whether you need to hide the stem, too?

Anyway, you can do it with
Special Tools Tool > sub-tool Custom Stem Tool.
To hide the flag, create a custom stem without flag - the Custom Stem Tool also serves as a “Custom Flag Tool”.

Re: Hide ledger lines on single layer

I would use the (very technical) Speedy Entry Tool dialog box Edit Frame: (make sure you are in the right layer) Speedy Entry Tool. Click outside the staff, to exit the entry rectangle. Hold down the correct modifier key (Windows: Ctrl; Mac: Option), and click in the staff/measure. In the dialog Edi...

Re: different bar lines per part in score

In Mac Finale 25 (and likely prior versions), when I change the bar line for a measure in one part, it affects the bar line for every other part in the score. Anyone know how I can disable that? We need a clearer description of this issue. Is this a matter of layout differences between the linked p...

Did you examine the Finale document I attached?

In the document there are some hidden barlines in the Viola staves.
But you can not hide Viola barlines with a staff style, not in this document (try it!).

Re: Hiding barlines issues

Without seeing an actual Finale sample document we can only guess. My first guess would be that the culprit could be a staff group that includes all the string staves. It is difficult to see in your attached graphic, but it indeed looks like there is a staff group of all the string staves. If my gue...

Re: greyed out repeat behavior

Thank you. To clarify, I am trying to edit which staves the repeat appears on, not where in the bar it appears. As I mentioned in my previous post, some of the staves do not display the Forward Repeat Bar - due to a custom staff style. Remove that staff style, and the repeat bars will display. Tip:...

Peter, that Virtual Singer is very interesting. That's not something that's compatible with Finale, though, is it?

I would love such a thing that works with Finale …
You could export from Finale as MusicXML, then import the MusicMXL in Virtual Singer.

It is also possible to make a Stack Selection of fewer than all the document’s staves - even a Stack Selection of a single staff.
The secret is that you must create a staff set of the staff (staves).

In my version there are 62, none of them suitable for indicating an open string. Have they added it now?
