… I THINK it's if I'm doing this from the last page … Try going “the other way”: Begin with the Page 1, then Page 2, Page 3, Page 4, &c. You are using Finale v25 - right?
An idea:
Go to Make Music’s web site, log in, and download the installer program for Finale v25.
Run the installer, and install the music fonts.

The culprit is the {chord root} font. Document menu > Document Options > Fonts > Chord > Symbol Click the button {Set Font…}, and choose another font for Symbol. Try e. g. Arial By The Way: What you have done in your attached Finale document, is (Finale-technically speaking) Alternate Bass notation,...

Re: How to change the Simply Entry Tool default note value?
When I launch my own copy of Finale, the Simple Entry Tool always opens by default in Eighth Note, rather than in Quarter Note. I do not know of a way to change the default rhythmic value, sorry. To get a specific rhythmic value I just hit the relevant number key. To get a Double Whole Note, I just ...

Not enough info. 1) What the layout is supposed to look like, we do not know. What should happen when you change the time signature from 4/4 to 2/4? a. Should the number of 2/4 measures be the same as the number of 4/4 measures before - meaning that 50 % of the notes should “go away”? b. Or should t...

I have seen that solution at many concerts. It seems to be common today. Usually the device is a tablet computer in combination with a pedal. Two questions:
1) You are using Finale 27.4.1 - but was this particular Finale document created in an earlier Finale version?
2) What happens if you try
MIDI/Audio menu > Retranscribe
?

That “first rest” is the first rest on the bottom staff (in Layer 1).

… I guess my mistake was using layer 1 for the up-stem notes and layer 2 for the cross-staff notes. Actually it can be done with the cross-staff notes in Layer 2.
