Playback issue

So I'm using finale 2012 and I suddenly stopped getting midi playback, the scroll line doesn't follow the music and the timer is stuck on "00.00.00.000". When I switch to vst, I can hear it, but I still don't see the scroll line and the time is still stuck at "00.00.00.000". Anyone know what could b...

VST not playing dynamics

So in a piece I'm working on, I decided to add a double bass part. But garritan won't play dynamics for just that ONE instrument. It's playing everything double forte no matter what dynamic I assign to it. I'm running finale 2012. Any suggestions?

Ok, so people generally don't do that then?

So the typical way to do it is to just make a score and change all the instruments individually in the instrument set-up menu? Seems like a lot of work, but ok...

Go the the Knowledge base http://makemusic.custhelp.com/app/answers/list and type in Install VST. Lots of answers. Ok, well that sort of answered my question. I can get them instruments to play now (well sort of. I don't know how to set more than one instrument to play at a time), but is there a wa...

Can someone at least point me in the right direction, please?

I have the VST plugin in the finale's VST folder, but I still can't get kontakt instruments when selecting the instruments I want from my score. I'm not sure at all what to do.

Installing VST

Ok, I know this might be a dumb question, but I can't find any instructions on how to do this and I'm having trouble figuring it out... If I had something like Kontakt 4 and I wanted it to work for finale, exactly what do I need to do?

A couple of things to check : - I assume that you used the "playback" thumbnail, then Type->Swing. At his point, make sure you enter a value bigger than 0 (75, 100...). - Also keep in mind that the expression should either be created in a category which applies to all staves, or in another category...

Eighth notes don't swing

So when I assign the expression to swing eighth notes, nothing happens. It still plays them as straight eighths. I looked at the expression details and everything seems normal, so I'm not sure what to do. Any ideas?

1. and 3.: Page Layout menu. You will see options for page size, and for resize pages. 2. Do you have HP turned on? Also, I find it works better if you put a "target" tempo mark showing the tempo you want at the end of the alteration. Alright thanks. Changing the page layout is making a lot more se...

A few questions

I'm slowly getting the hang of finale (2009) more and more everyday, but there's still a few things that I can't figure out... 1. How do I change the page size and orientation? When I change the options in document -> page format, absolutely nothing happens to my score. It seems like the only way to...

It's a single marching band exercise and I want 2 or 3 instruments on a single page. So normally when I go to print parts, it prints all of the individual instrument parts by themselves. But I want two or three parts on a single page. So maybe the first page can have the flute, clarinet and alto sax...

Printing multiple part to a page

Ok, so I have a short warm up piece for marching band in which 2 or 3 different instrument parts could fit on one page. Is there any way to do this so that I can save paper?

You need to use the percussion Maps. you need to change the staff Notation Style from 'Standard' to 'Percussion and choose the appropriate map. After you choose the map, you need to select EDIT, go into the map. Click on 'None (Clear)' and then click on 'All named notes'. Click on DONE then SELECT ...

Problems with Virtual Drumline

Hi everyone, I'm using finale 2009 and I'm having a problem getting virtual drumline to work. The sound fonts seem to be there, but they're really hard to find. I have to input a note and move it around until I find the correct sound for it. This makes it not only very time consuming, but makes it e...

Raising the main volume

I'm using Finale 2009 and I'm wondering if there a way to raise the volume of the program. The playback is extremely quiet. I have to turn the volume up on my speakers all the way just to hear it (and even then it's still a little quiet). I really wouldn't mind, but it's just really annoying when so...
