Re: PrintMusic 2010 "crashed"; wierdly???
I followed all the procedures to download again. It took me through the steps, then, no icon on the desktop [except the former one that is not functioning]. I know how to "search" for files by name, by date, here and there..... but NO new files showed up. That means to me it didn't download. I've no...

Re: PrintMusic 2010 "crashed"; wierdly???
Can you grab the mystery window with the mouse and move it? Do you have the original PrintMusic media to reinstall it? No, the plain white "frame" is stuck in the lower left corner, showing it's upper right corner, and is DEAD; can't grab it, and any clicking on it results in a sound that says, "you...

Re: PrintMusic 2010 "crashed"; wierdly???
You may laugh and/or chuckle in kindness, but I've never seen/read nor used the word "preference" in Finale nor PrintMusic, so I'll read up on it. But trying to imagine what you're saying is that I should be looking around the "help" areas to see how to re-create the preference file. And since my PR...

PrintMusic 2010 "crashed"; wierdly???
I've been off and on here I'll bet over 10 yrs, but still have a problem getting good with my my real Finale, so I've been getting over 99 pct satisfaction from my PrintMusic 2010, but yesterday a weird thing happened and it's totally UN-usable. When I boot if up, it only shows a framed white, TOTAL...

Re: De-authorizing PrintMusic2010 on a PC to get it on my NE
I'm trying to reach SUPPOT at Finale, but they want my serial number.... that's my EXACT question, how do I find my serial number? Is it somewhere on my old computer in my PrintMusic2010 program? The serial number should be in the program, in About PrintMusic, or whatever it is. I can’t confirm tha...

Re: De-authorizing PrintMusic2010 on a PC to get it on my NE
so now I've figured out how to DE-AUTHORIZE PrintMusic2010 on my OLD computer, but if I DO, how do I know that I'll be able to RE-authorize it on my new one? If I fail, I"ll have ruined my only usable program?
thx,

Re: De-authorizing PrintMusic2010 on a PC to get it on my NE
I don't even know the FIRST STEP, or the SITE to go to, AND a concern that they'll ask for numbers that I no longer remember WHERE they are, or maybe it's internal to the program and they/you can help me FIND it? Smiling, yes, I have the new Finale [is it 25?] but am NOT proficient at it, so still ...

Re: Linked Parts; to combine 2 staves; no brackets in score
OK, so I"m gathering, in a nutshell, that I should start studying "linked parts", and then I'll automatically HAVE the staves I want without having to go through the command of "extract parts"???? If that is correct, then I'll try that with the file that I've already created [a pair of C Trumpets, a...

Re: Linked Parts; to combine 2 staves; no brackets in score
Create a linked part. It will be called Part X (X being a number). Change that part name to Trumpets. In that part, include both trumpet instruments. If you want to extract parts (not needed, but sometimes desired), extract this new part. Zuill Ahhh, there is a clue, you say "[not needed, but somet...

Re: Linked Parts; to combine 2 staves; no brackets in score
So here it is, 4/15/17, never figured this out yet on Finale 2012, and now I purchased Finale V25........ I've had to depend on PrintMusic2010 for all my work since starting this thread. Hold my hand??????? OK, so when I go to Setup Wizard, and want Trumpet Bb 1 and Trumpet Bb 2 on a "pair of staves...

lyrics in Finale 2012
Finale 2012 and Windows I've two treble staves and I'm putting the lyrics between them as the rythmn is the same in each. The single line of lyrics was working well. I came back to finish the next half of the piece and now the lyrics all go up INTO the staff, ABOVE the notes, rather than between the...

Re: Converting Instruments
I'm trying to accomplish something similar (I think). I am writing for guitar so I would like the written music to play back an octave lower than what is actually written, i.e., transposed for guitar. I don't see any transposition options when I use the Staff Tool. I see the following options only:...

Re: Linked Parts; to combine 2 staves; no brackets in score
No hurry, I won't be able to work on this until late Sun eve, but here is what strikes me when I read it. What is a "full name"? is it like "Trumpet 2 in Bb?", or "Horn in F"? Then if it has one, remove it........... if it doesn't have on, ADD it??????????? so I'm not clear on if it "needs" the full...

Re: Linked Parts; to combine 2 staves; no brackets in score
OK, no time to STUDY it right now, but I'm beginning to think that it's important that I've got to learn to "set it up", knowing what I'll want when I go to Link Parts for my pdf conversions? OK, knowing my experiences in PrintMusic2010, and the example I gave you above [three Trumpets and TBone and...

Re: Linked Parts; to combine 2 staves; no brackets in score
OK, so I went back and added brackets to the above mentioned Trombone and Euphonium, and for learning, and need, I added brackets to three trumpets thusly: One bracket to combine Trumpet 1 and 2 One bracket to combine Trumpet 2 and 3 One bracket to combine all three trumpets. This is the way I alway...

Linked Parts; to combine 2 staves; no brackets in score
I guess I'm a beginner, been using Finale 2012 for one day now. I think I do pretty well with PrintMusic2010 so that's my background. So I'm trying to learn the uniqueness of "Linked Parts"............. when I did PrintMusic, I put a bracket between a Trombone and a Euphonium, and then extract parts...

Re: Combine two staves into one
Yes, the hardest part of getting our OWN help is knowing what to ask; the key words, the jargon that is used in the help site. I found it............ IMPLODE. However it doesn't retain the instrument's "key"; ie, a Bb instrument is transposed into the concert key [as a C instrument], but I've got a ...

Re: Converting Instruments
I know this is an old thread, and admit I might not fully understand the question. But for example, I do a LOT of hymns for various instruments. During my setup time, I set up [for example] Eb Alto Sax, Bb Trumpet, C Trumpet, and Trombones. I enter all the Treble stuff into C Trumpet and all the Bas...

Re: jump to measure #?
No, that won't work. Jump to measure is Scroll View, only. However, most folk find that scroll view is better for input, and use the page view only when they are ready for the layout. Agree completely with scroll view for entry; I use page view only at the last moment to see how it'll turn out on t...

Combine two staves into one
I know how to do layers for "hymn type" notation. But sometimes I do both, say melody and harmony on separate staves for various reasons. Now if I change my mind and want those two staves combined into one, sometimes to save paper, can I do it? I've tried help in our "manuals" and on line, but don't...
