How do I transpose the chord symbols along with any music I am transposing? The manual is unclear on this. Thanks.

I have Finale 2010, and when I try to change the meter of a measure from 4/4 to 2/4, the program freaks out and puts part of a giant red letter or something across the page, which is non-removable. What the hell is going on??
