Articulations that DON'T create space in the measure
I'm creating an "eye glasses" articulation (so the band knows to watch me for cues). When I add that articulation, it moves the notes to create "space" for that articulation ... even though the articulation is outside the measure. Is there any way to have Finale NOT do this? It really messes up the ...

Re: Creating Floating Drum Legend
OK ... so after some research ... i found the "CHANGE INSTRUMENTS" option. But, the issue is, I'm in the key of B Major, and I selected bar 5 and changed instruments to "Drum Set" for that bar and the key signature defaulted to C (naturals on 5 lines and spaces) ... looks really odd. AND, the chords...

Re: Creating Floating Drum Legend
if my second question isn't possible,
i guess the drum pattern "legend" would be sitting right on top of the first bar of the CONCERT staffs position. A basic "this is the drum pattern for this song" measure(s).

Re: Creating Floating Drum Legend
sorry for the lack of info. It might be easier to ask this question: My "CONCERT" staff, which is slash notation with chords and some rhythmic notation measures (a basic lead sheet) ... i'd like to add, for the first measure or 2, the staff style to be DRUM SET notation. So the first bar or two, the...

Creating Floating Drum Legend
I'm doing about 100 charts (lead sheets and horns).
I'd like to create a 1 to 2 bar floating drum legend/drum part so the drummer can see the basic rhythm of the tune and then have that be placed in the lead sheet.
Is this possible to do?

Shortcut to switch tools?
I'm on Finale 2014 on my laptop.
Is there a keyboard shortcut to switch to the Measure Tool, Simply Entry Tool, Staff Tool ... etc etc?
the only one i know of is ESC to go back to the Selection Tool.
Thanks!

Re: Drum Beam Flattening
I redid it all by hand ... but I will post when it comes up again. I think I worked totally backwards on my first drum chart but at least I know now how to start.

Re: Drum Beam Flattening
I tried the split and it sent the Kick drum to layer 2 but replaced the note about 10 ledger lines too low.
It also didn't split the middle note (snare hit).
Maybe I'm doing something wrong?

Re: Drum Beam Flattening
Great.
I already charted it all out in one staff so I guess I'll have to do it again in layers on another staff? I'm trying to select just specific notes in Layer 1 to move to Layer 2 but it's not happening.
I guess I'll just have to go from square one.

Re: Drum Beam Flattening
Awesome. Thanks for that. Never knew it.
Question ... is it customary to stem the foot actions (kick, hihat foot) down and the hand stem actions up?
If so ... how do I do this if they're all on one staff?

Drum Beam Flattening
I'm writing some parts for a drumset and the beams are slanted like as in normal notation for regular instruments. Is there a way to flatten ALL the beams to be straight across rather than having to do them ONE by ONE?

Re: How to add floating TABS at the top of my score
so here's my issue ... in the attached pict, i want to put the CHORD DIAGRAM in the empty space you see at the top of page 1. I can't seem to get a Chord Diagram with Fretboards without having them appear in the entire score. Also, when i try to add a new stave to possibly be able to hide but attach...

I'm having trouble finding the CHORD DIAGRAM options/setup menu.
I have found the Seville font very useful though.

How to add floating TABS at the top of my score
Hello all, I'm doing a music book for some artists that include guitar tabs, vocal melody, and guitar notation. I'd like to have, at the top of the score, the list (in large font) of TABLATURE chords used in the piece of music. ie: have a tablature of C, Am, F, G very large at the top of the page of...
