Re: How to move/align expression handles
Looks like the handle is on the baseline of the first line of text, so you're out of luck if you want them aligned at the bottom. You could use guides to help align them. (Unfortunately, "snap to guides" snaps the handle to the guides, so you can't use that.) Have I set them up wrong? Is there a wa...

How to move/align expression handles
I'm doing a keyboard part where they have to switch patches quite a bit. How do I set the square handle box (what we grab to move the expression) to be at the same place in each expression? To, say, the bottom left. That way, the expressions will be lined up together at their vertical alignment. Pic...

Re: CC64 to Pedal Expressions
I would like to present to you a JWLua script which I wrote. It searches for MIDI CC64 events, which have e.g. been recorded with a sustain pedal in a DAW, and inserts real pedal expressions in a piano staff. It can also delete the original markings, thus replacing the recorded events with the comm...

Re: Trombone "splat" sound notation
Funny replies. I think what I'm looking for is the sound of sort of a fog horn ... or a navy ship horn. I've heard a bass trombone do this and it almost sounds like the players' lips are REAL loose or something of the sorts. I wanna say the best description of what I'm looking for is this ... is a s...

Trombone "splat" sound notation
I'm trying to find online how to mark up when I want the trombone player to blow real hard and/or make a sort of "splat" sound. I'm doing a sort of "strip tease" section on a piece of music and the bones hit real hard on beats 2 and 4 but I want them to sort of "splat" ... or almost sound distorted ...

Great. I'll try that. Thanks!Jetcopy wrote:As Motet said near the top of this thread, make pdf's, combine the pdf's and let it add page numbers for you. You don't want to use Score merger for this.

Re: Moving one note from a chord to its adjacent staff
Actually, I found a better way. There is a plugin called "Split Point" in the "Scoring and Arranging" plugin folder. You can use this to split your example if you set the split point to "G3". It does it all in one go. Since most pianists can read chords where the bottom note is E in treble clef, yo...

Re: Creating Books for Musical Theater...page numbers.
So maybe for the sake of argument, I change my question to...I’m doing music books compiled of a lot of different songs I already have finale files for.
How would I make books and page number them?
I’m thinking scoremerger.

Re: Moving one note from a chord to its adjacent staff
I don't think Wonder wants to cross staff the notes. Rather, he wants to move them to the treble staff and delete the source notes. You can do that with the Note Mover as pictured below. Due to the fact that there are differing numbers of notes to be moved, I'm not sure there is a faster way via on...

Moving one note from a chord to its adjacent staff
Screen Shot 2019-04-07 at 5.30.00 AM.png I've imported a midi file and the split staff needs some editing. I'm working on a laptop (not a FULL sized numerical keyboard). I've looked up how to move whole measure or even single note passages to upper or lower staves. According do Finale Blog, using S...

Re: Importing Midi File ... How To Include Sustain Pedal CC
OK. So after some research I've found the proper windows.
I see my sustains that I played with my DAW ... is there a way to transfer that to the visual Smart Shape "Pedal" marking so I don't have to do all of them by hand?

Importing Midi File ... How To Include Sustain Pedal CC
I'm doing all my tracks in DP and then I'll SAVE AS a Midi File. I'll open that in Finale and start to edit. I'm wondering if there's a way to import Sustain Pedal commands and have them at least somewhat visible in Finale? I'm importing "Continuous Data" when importing into Finale but I'm wondering...

Is there a way to completely replace a chord suffix library? Whenever I import a library, it ADDS to library to my current one and then the library is HUGE.
How do I replace instead of add?

Re: Changing Chord Fonts In Existing File
You might want to create a library with your own created suffixes, make changes to the existing suffixes, then import yours back in. That will avoid the change to your own suffixes. Zuill As I feared ... I think your answer is what I need to do .. which will take some time. But if that's what I nee...

Changing Chord Fonts In Existing File
I make charts based off of a template. That is based off of the Broadway Copyist and Finale fonts. I'm doing a new project where I'd like it to look a little more professional and the Broadway/Finale fonts look a little too hand-drawn to me. I've changed all the existing text/expression fonts ... bu...

Mike, thanks for your replies. I just did THE ADDAMS FAMILY show and not only were the songs page numbered in each instrument parts ... but the overall book had page numbers. EX: "WHEN YOU'RE AN ADDAMS" song had page numbers 1-12 to denote the song's length at the margin. At the VERY bottom margin w...

Re: Creating Books for Musical Theater...page numbers.
I suspect Mike is saying that a world where songs are being composed at the last minute, and things are being cut or reordered when things aren't going well in rehearsal, it's helpful to be able to insert and reorder things. I'd be surprised if the parts to, say, "Oklahoma!" are still like that, bu...

Creating Books for Musical Theater...page numbers.
I'm orchestrating a musical. I'm just prepping my files. There's 29 tunes. I'm doing each tune in a different Finale File, obviously. My question is about page numbers. I'd like to output books so that when I hand this over, its a complete book for each chair. Each Finale file has page numbers and t...
