How to assign shortcut/metatool for main tools
Hello all, I've been away from Finale for quite a while, just getting back to it. There's something I used to do which I forgot how to program. I was about to ask anyone if they knew how when I rediscovered the trick by mistake. So instead of posting as a question I'm posting this as help for anyone...

Where do I get Finale 2102, from Doctor Who? I hear the Sonic Tuplet Tool is amazing!

Re: Breaking secondary beams is MADDENING!!!
Thank you NG. I will look into the full version of TG right now. If it cuts down even half the time it will be worth it. I'll look into the Edit Filter shortly. You're saying if I have, say, a run of 32nds across two beats and that same rhythmic run is used elsewhere, then I can break the needed bea...

Breaking secondary beams is MADDENING!!!
Hi all. Breaking secondary beams should not have to be done one at a time, for crying out loud. I would have sworn this would be something that Finale or a third party would have provided a plug-in for by now, there have been so many other more complex advancements. Now, I know perfectly well how to...

Re: set default accidental spelling
Sorry, I misread. It's under the Finale menu. Thank you! Also I see now in the help file online: "Edit Modal or Chromatic Spellings dialog box... Finale uses this table if Use Spelling Tables is selected in the Enharmonic Spelling submenu and Finale detects a mode or chromatic key created in the Non...

set default accidental spelling
I know (I think?) I'm not crazy, I remember seeing a way to do this in a past version but now I cannot find it. HELP! I'm writing serial music, naturally with no key signature. But I'm finding there are certain black keys that I almost always want to have a specific spelling. For instance when I pla...

Re: widen space between certain beats
Thank you Peter. Your solution was to create an articulation mark. The solution worked pretty well, a little better than doing it with an expression. Some may find using an expression for this easier, since they nudge far more easily than do articulation marks. It would be great if either way could ...

widen space between certain beats
Hello all, I have a score in 3/4 time (forgive the "fraction"). The composer wants one of the instruments to play in 2/4 for a number of measures, and that there be a dashed barline in only that player's part to indicate the 2/4 subdivisions. (This is not 2 against 3, nor does he want "2/4" added to...

Thank you both! And sorry, everyone, for that ad that showed up at the bottom of my post. Don't know how that got there or why, will have to look into that.

Hauptstimme and nebenstimme, where?
Hello all. I'm working on a twelve-tone score and have to lay in some symbols that I'm not finding in the Finale font sets (I have 2011). Does anyone know where to find, or how to obtain, the following German/Schoenbergian symbols?: Hauptstimme - indicating the principal part or line; looks like a c...

Re: Study score, reductions
Hi, i've got the following question: what should i have to convert a conductor's score into a piano piece? Isn't there some plug-in that comes with 2011? I think I've seen it, but I'm not with the program right now to check. BTW all who were interested in the matter of multiple score types (or layo...

Another kind of score: on top of regular (full) and having a Study score added (smaller page and staff height too, usually), Piano reduction (as its own score, so format rules can be set up), I would also wish for a Conductor's score (these can often be a little different, making for more pages and ...

Sure I have, but if you read through the wish you'll find it doesn't address the need properly. It's not so much a need for a reduction per se, it's a need for a second, differently formatted version of the score. It would be great for instance to, in one file, have Full score, Study score (for inst...
