Re: Changing 4/4 to 3/4
Does the Bridge change to each 4/4 bar now represented by 2 3/4 bars? When I hear the recording, it sounds more like 4/4 but each measure is doing 2 quarter triplets. That could be represented by 2 bars of 3/4 instead, which is what I guess you are asking about. If so, that can be done easily, I th...

Re: Changing 4/4 to 3/4
Thanks. Still a little unclear on the procedure. Hoping for some clarification of the highlighted portion of Peter's post: To do so, first change the time signature from 4/4 to 3/4, without Rebar Music. Then, change the note values, using the Change Utility. You will have to change one “half-measure...

Re: Changing 4/4 to 3/4
The song is Day Dream by Duke Ellington & Billy Strayhorn, written in 4/4. The recording is by June Christy, with the bridge in 3/4. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pSwmU13Reo (bridge at 1:44) Obviously, it wouldn't take me long to just re-score the bridge from scratch, and re-do the lyrics, but I ...

Changing 4/4 to 3/4
I have a lead sheet all scored out in 4/4. A singer wants me to change one section of the piece to 3/4, per a famous recording. What's the best procedure for doing that, short of just re-scoring that entire section? I know it's going to take some manual shuffling around, but presumably there's a pre...

Alternate bass note playback
On playback, Finale seems to ignore alternate bass notes and just play the chord as it normally would. For example, Cm, Cm/B, Cm/Bb, and Cm/A all play back the same. Is there some way to get Finale to play back the bass note?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Minor-chord symbols
I occasionally make jazz lead sheets for a singer whose pianist wants to have "mi" as the symbol for a minor chord, e.g., Ami7, so I created "mi" chord definitions for the various types of minor chords. On playback, though, Finale treats those as major chords. Apparently Finale only recognizes "m", ...

Re: Errors When Saving Finale Notation Files
I downloaded one file I sent to myself from another computer that I worked on with Finale 25, and I wanted to edit it using Finale PM 2014 on my desktop. Does it have some problem editing and saving it in a different version of Finale? At least on the versions I have, PrintMusic can't open Finale f...

Re: scale exercise
Fix: Click on “Use Notehead Circle Category Positioning” to de-select it. Click on “Use Notehead Circle Category Positioning” again to select it. Now you will see that the positioning settings are correct - and the expression will move up/down with the note. Ah, I see. Thanks. Strange that you have...

Re: scale exercise
It works perfectly. It even moves with the note. ... I can also see that as a setup for parentheses. I was thinking about parentheses and other text too. But for some reason, when I take Peter's file and create new Expressions within that same Notehead Circle category that he created, they don't se...

Re: scale exercise
I think I figured out how Peter made the circle move with the notes as an Expression, but he can correct me if I'm wrong. I think he started by creating a new category of Expression. Then he went into Edit Categories for that category, and selected: - Justification: Center - Horizontal Alignment: Ce...

Re: scale exercise
That's excellent! One question ... On yours, the circle moves with the note when I transpose it, as desired. But when I create a circle in the Expression Tool, it doesn't move with the note. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: scale exercise
But I don't know how to get those two stemless blacked-in noteheads in there (avoid notes in the scale). I got that figured out, using the Note Shape Tool. Still trying to figure this out, though ... Also don't know how to draw circles (or boxes would also be fine) around some of the notes (the cho...
