Well, I found the solution.....Under midi/audio , I changed the selection from "Play Finale thru MIDI" to "Play Finale thru Audio Units"
and lo and behold.....even though I have no idea what I did, and right now I don't care.
Gentlemen, thank you both.
Cheers

Re: one of 5 staff lines doing weird thing.
Thanks Motet
FYI, I didn't use Channel 10.
Let me try attaching the file again - using a different name.
No matter what, many thanks.

one of 5 staff lines doing weird thing.
I have a score of 5 instruments, 2 violins, 2 violas, and a cello.
The 4th Instrument (the second viola) instead of playing the notes as scored, is playing a variety of percussion instruments....?????
Ive attached the score with only the second viola playing, the other 4 are muted out.
Any ideas????

Linked Parts
Reading the manual, it says, more or less, "After generating parts from the score, any change to the score will be reflected in the individual parts". If I'm wrong, stop reading and let me know. SO, I created a small 2 measure score, calling it " Link test 1" and extracted the parts "Link Test - Alt...

2 bar repeat sign
OK, Im confused, again. I would have liked to use a two bar repeat symbol . I visited the manual and found STAFF> Apply staff style to > Score and parts (I selected Parts) Select either 07.One-Bar repeat(O) or 08.Two-Bar repeat(T) The letters in parentheses are predefined staff style Metatools. see ...

Re: Need to re-establish my PrintMusic
Ernie, I had the same situation. I had used Print Music since 2004 (I think). I believe that the issue is that PM is a 32 bit program and your iMac runs on a 64 bit program.. I tried running PM but as you found out, doesn't work very well and the program keeps crashing. I took the $200 option and in...

Re: finale 64 bit on iMac (latest version)
Morning all, I have spent the last 8 - 10 hours over the last day or two, in the finale tutorials and have learned a great deal. "working with linked parts" has been an education, to say the least. I'm still confused as to why, when I add a note to the score (as a test) it doesn't show up un the ass...

Re: finale 64 bit on iMac (latest version)
Well, I've kind of figured out some of it, except the difference between a "Linked file" and a "Non linked file" I tried the Finale knowledge base, and got no place. I finally noticed that when I extracted an instrument, it came up with all the systems locked, so I "removed all system locks" and the...

finale 64 bit on iMac (latest version)
Since installing finale, from print music,(iMac) many weird things happen. the biggest one is "extract parts". The extracted parts are all "scrunched up" and my only solution at the moment is to utilities>fit measures>lock layout with 4 measures then use fit measures to get it to look readable. I tr...

applying "mute"
Finale Print Music 2014.5 - iMac I have two scores - in one the mute command works just fine, but on another Mute will not mute....Im probably doing something stupid, but i can't figure it out In both cases Play thru Midi (check) Send patches thru midi for playback (check) under "Device set up" Midi...
