Re: How to enter Double Time Signature—Finale 2014, MAC
Thank you very much—what an anthology of instructions! I really appreciate the detailed reply. Will follow instructions after following your previous one regarding space in between staves on only system.

How to enter Double Time Signature—Finale 2014, MAC
Hi,
My piece is in 3/4 but I have a section which, continues in 3/4 but the phrasing is in 6/8. I don't want to change the time signature to 6/8, want to remain in 3/4 (the tempo remains the same). How to I enter a 6/8 time signature in parentheses?
Using a Mac, Finale 2014.
Thank you, Julian

Respacing Staves in only 1 system—Finale 2014, Mac
Hello,
I would like to increase the space in between the viola and violin staves only in one system, not globally. Is this possible, and if yes, how?
Thank you as usual,
Julian

Re: Playback error with pizzicato and arco
I think that we need more info: a. What playback device are you using? b. Are you using Human Playback? c. Just a wild guess: Did you perhaps create a new expression by duplicating an already existing expression (with playback effect pizzicato), and then edit this duplicate expression without editi...

Playback error with pizzicato and arco
Hi, Using Finale 2014 with an iMac. In playback mode, Finale inserted a pizz, where I did not indicate one. The only way I could get rid of it was by indicating "arco". I saw an earlier discussion about this but the fix around it does not apply to the 2014 version. This problem did not occur before,...

Re: Adding extra instrument in middle of score. Finale 2014-
I'm editing my question since I just figured how to add instrument mid-score. I just added the instrument at the beginning of the piece and then selected "Hide Empty Staves" until the point where I needed to add instrument. Now my question is: How do I make the instrument list appear in their full n...

Adding extra instrument in middle of score. Finale 2014-MAC
Hi, Two questions: 1. I'm trying to add an extra violin section in the middle of my score. I selected the bar where I wanted to add the extra section and then went into Score Manager and added it. Problem is that Score Manager added the section at the beginning of the piece, not in the middle where ...

Re: Collisions of accidentals/notes, and tuplet consolidatio
Understood, thank you.
miker wrote:As far as the collisions are concerned, it looks like you just have too many notes for the measure size. I would try fewer measures per system.
I'm away from the computer, so I can't play with your second question.

Re: Finale 2014—Trills not playing back properly
I apologize for my late reply, particularly since you replied so quickly. I have been stuck with a much more serious problem with Finale which delayed much of my work—I had to finish my project by hand-writing because of how severe this issue has been: I will address it in a separate question so tha...

Finale 2014—Trills not playing back properly
Hi, This has been a problem for a long time now, a glitch going back to Finale 2010, and it continues with Finale 2014 (I'm using an iMac). Two layers in the treble clef, and for the lower voice, I designated a trill. During playback, the trill is played by both the lower and upper voices, even thou...

Re: Whole measure rests in any time signature (Finale 2014)
Thank you very much, as usual. I appreciate the detailed reply and will try now your instructions. Best, Julian I would create the whole rest as a tuplet: 4 Quarters in the space of 5 Quarters. Set the tuplet to display “Nothing” for both Number and Bracket. When you have created one such whole rest...

Whole measure rests in any time signature (Finale 2014)
Hi, Asking this question since I don't understand Finale's manual in explaining this feature. How do I enter a rest for an entire measure for a piece that is not in 4/4 time? I'm writing a piece in 5/4 and I see for empty measures, Finale by default inserts this whole measure rest but how do I do it...

Finale 2014: Glitch in shifting from one note to the next
Hello, Having a very strange issue on both of my Macs with Finale 2014 which I just bought: Sometimes I am able to shift from one note to the next only if I press the Command Key together with the arrows to navigate within the measure in between the notes (I almost never use the mouse for navigating...

Re: Finale 2010—cannot change playback tempo
You were right, control was set to "pause". When I clicked on stop button, I was indeed able to change the playback tempo. Problem is that playback tempo remains the same, even though I'm able to change the numerical value of tempo. I even tried at an extreme high tempo, at 300, with no change.

I didn't know that there was a free demo. Thank you for the suggestion, I'll try it. I hope that I won't have to resort to Finale 2014 because I've frankly been very happy with 2010, until these glitches started happening, virtually all at once. They're happening on both of my computers (iMac and ma...
