System spacing
I'm using Finale Songwriter 2012 in Windows 10 and would be grateful for some advice on this subject. I'm trying to move systems closer together and the Edit System Margins dialogue box is baffling me. If I reduce the top and bottom margin values and Distance between systems, I get some success, but...

Re: Unwanted dashes in the lyrics line.
Many thanks Zuill.
I was sure you were right but, in fact the marks have now disappeared. Very strange!

Unwanted dashes in the lyrics line.
I'm using Songwriter 2012 in Windows.
I am entering lyrics for different voice parts, but unwanted dashes are appearing, mostly between the words, but sometimes under the words. I can't select and delete them.
Any ideas please?

Changing Template
I have a score in TTBB format that I've imported into Songwriter 2012 (on Windows 7) via a MusicXML file. I would like to reformat this as a Male Barbershop template - or copy and paste the 4 different parts into 4 layers on a barbershop template. When I try pasting the second part into layer 2, lay...

Thank you so much Miker. That works. I didn't see any reference to that in the manual.

Ties in the Bass clef
I'm using Songwriter 2012 in Windows 7 I'm mostly writing for 4 voices, with two in the treble clef and two in the bass. The ties in the treble clef are fine, but in the bass clef they are in the wrong direction and I haven't been able to find a way of flipping them as you can with slurs. As I don't...

Dashed slurs
Finale Songwriter 2012. Windows 7.
I need to replicate some dashed slurs that indicate no breath points between notes.
I've seen some discussions about them in the forum, but nothing that has helped me to discover how to create them.
I should be grateful for some advice.

Angled beams
I'm using Songwriter 2012 on Windows 7. My default setting appears to be Flat beams. I need some angled beams but the manual instructions don't seem to be working, i.e. Ctrl-click the note, then Ctrl-/ (or on another page it says Alt-/). Typically I have 2 eighth notes (quavers) on B followed by 2 o...

X noteheads
I need to copy some x noteheads. I see under Maestro font in the manual that the command is Alt +0192 but it doesn't tell me how to enter that in the music. Any advice most welcome.

Difficulty with Tuplets
Finale Songwriter 2012 on Windows 7 I'm transcribing a piece to transpose it. It has a lot of tuplets (triplets), mostly eighth notes (quavers), firstly in a quarter note (crotchet) pick up measure (bar) and several measures (bars) with double tuplets (triplets). In either case, Songwriter is refusi...

Text block borders or frames
Windows version The manual page on Text Blocks says: "Text created and edited in the score that is enclosed in a "Standard" rectangular frame for which a border can be displayed, or a "Custom" frame that you create. I have failed to find any menu item to create a border or frame and should be gratef...

Resizing staves
The manual tells me to click on the Resize tool in page view and then click to the left of a staff to bring up the resizing dialogue box. However, I can only get the Resize Page dialogue box. I need to enter two lines of lyrics for different voices in the middle of the staff and need more room betwe...

Thanks for your reply Peter.
Unfortunately, I don't appear to have "Document options" in my (the latest) version of Songwriter and it isn't mentioned in the User Manual.

Measure margins
Is there any way of increasing the left hand margin in measures? I'm finding that the measure number often conflicts with the first note (especially with accidentals) or with slurs. I know I can move the measure number but that gives an inconsistent appearance - unless I move them all manually! The ...

Re: More space for lyrics?
OK, I've managed to move the bass clef down. I suppose I can move the lyrics onto a second verse line to disentangle them from the notes in the treble clef.
Any better suggestions gratefully received.

Re: More space for lyrics?
Thank you Miker, for your quick reply.
I had tried your suggestion but still can't make it work. The blue handle (?) extends downwards but the staff itself is unchanged.
I must be doing something wrong but don't know what!

More space for lyrics?
In my first attempt at using songwriter, I can't identify the answer to my problem in the manual. The space between the lower notes in the treble clef and the higher notes in the bass clef doesn't leave enough room for the lyrics, which are overlapping e.g. the lines that connect two quavers (eighth...
