Re: Deleting empty staff
I tried this two ways: selecting the djembe staff and then trying to hide it via the contextual menu (Control>Hide Empty Staves) did not work, but selecting the staff and hiding via the Staff menu itself did.

Are you trying to merge Horn 1 and 2 into the same layer? Maybe @Miker has the answer: https://forum.makemusic.com/default.aspx?f=5&m=288438

Re: Position of accidental
FWIW: I, too, prefer Points as Measurement Units. No matter what is currently selected as Measurement Units, you always (in any dialog box field) can enter values in any Measurement Units, by adding one or more letters after the number: 1c = 1 Centimeter (or 1cm, or 1centimeters) 1m = 1 Millimeter ...

Space between composite time signatures
Hi, Up until F26 increasing the space between a pair of composite time signatures from which the plus sign had been removed (for instance, to place parentheses around the second one) was a reasonably straightforward affair. However, in F27, when you get to the point of increasing the font size betwe...

Re: Tuplet over Systems / bar lines
This is slightly OT but I saw an instance of Mike's solution above in a published edition and the question struck me: is it notationally okay to do this? i.e. have the first printed note/rest/whatever of a new measure not actually on the first beat - isn't this why barlines were invented? Vaughan an...

Favourite font for triplets/tuplets
Hi, I'd like to get an idea of what people find the best font (and size) for triplets and tuplets. Sometimes I find Finale's default (which I think is Times size 10) a little small and indistinct - in busy music it can sometimes get a little lost. Would just making it bolder and/or bigger do the tri...

Re: Ottavina font... is there an update?
I 'think' Ottavina came from https://www.musegraph.com but I might be wrong. Their new website is completely different and doesn't list it but there is a contact email you might try - musegraph [at] gmail.com

TG Tools and macOS Mojave
Hi, Using the pro version of TG Tools if I go to Spacing>Add/Remove space in measure… Finale instantly quits (along with any unsaved work). However, if I use the hotkey shortcut (control/shift - numpad +/-) all is well. I haven't tried all of the TG plugins yet but this is the only one that plays up...

Yep, the default options are all unsatisfactory. I wrote to MM years ago with a feature request about this but it obviously slipped through the cracks.

Re: Eszett
Thanks for the additional information. (I do remember an old set of Zarathustra parts with 'Richard Strauß' on them - my first encounter with a scharfes S) So if you are re-engraving a historic score, better stick to the historic spelling, whatever it may be. If you're a modern composer writing a ne...

Eszett
Hi, is it correct to use the eszett (ß) in modern German? I'm curious as to the correct spelling of Zeitmass (which appears sometimes as Zeitmass, Zeitimaß and Zeitmaass). Also, Mässig (Mäßig). What is correct?
Thank you.
Thank you.

Bug with JW plugins and Sierra 10.12.3?
Just wondering if anyone else has this problem? In macOS 10.12.3 with Finale 2014.5, when using any of the JW plugins that have 'close' and 'apply' buttons, clicking 'close' crashes Finale (without saving the changes). However, if you click the red dot top left to close the plugin then all is well. ...

Benjamin Britten does it frequently (see Midsummer Night's Dream for instance - particularly Act 3). If it be good enough for him, why not?Does anyone else find mixing two languages inappropriate?

Verse numbers in 1st time bar
Hello,
With multiple verse lyrics that commence in a 1st time bar, is it possible to have the verse number display in the 1st time bar itself as well as on the repeat? It only shows at the start of the repeated section but perhaps I have missed something.
Thanks for any help.

Re: Empty staves won't hide. Tried many solutions.
Hi Peter and Marco,
There may be a bug here. When I tried hiding the staves by highlighting the handles and using the contextual menu to hide empty staves, nothing happened. But if I went to the Staff menu and did it from there it did work properly.
