Okay. Thanks very much. I'll stick with the single slash; as you say, we're talking about repeating a single beat.

Re: slashes used as repeat symbols
Thanks motet.
I've read somewhere on these forums that a single slash should be used for quavers, and a double slash for semiquavers. Using staff style, I just get the single slash. Is it possibile to get a double slash?

Hello Peter,
No, I'm unfamiliar with it. How does it work? Is it reproduced in playback?

Re: slashes used as repeat symbols
Thanks RimasG, but I'm not talking about the repetition of a single note. For example, I have a group of four semiquavers, B flat, A, G, A which is then repeated three times in the same bar. In the original parts, they use a single slash to indicate repetition of this group of four semiquavers. Florio

slashes used as repeat symbols
I'm transcribing some late eighteenth-century string quartets, and frequently come across semiquaver or quaver groupings which are then repeated throughout the bar. The original notation uses a slash for each repetition. Where can I find these slashes (articulations? repeats?) in Finale, and how do ...

Playback ignoring one layer...
How is it possibile to get Finale to play both layers of a keyboard (right hand) part? I've had to notate the music for the right hand using two layers, but in playback I only hear the uppermost layer.

Re: Lowering baseline for one section of score
Many thanks, Peter. I actually found an easier and quicker way to do this. By choosing 'adjust syllables' from the lyrics menu, I was then able to select the lyrics that needed to be lowered or raised and move them down or up with the keyboard arrows.

Lowering baseline for one section of score
Is it possibile to adjust the baseline for lyrics in individual sections of a work? I've merged several documents, and the baselines are slightly different so I'd like to have them at the same distance below the stave. If I select a section and then go to the Lyrics tool, the section is no longer hi...

No text being inserted in text box
I'm trying to insert text into a score, but when I type in the text box, nothing is inserted. Has this happened to anyone else? Any ideas on how to solve this problem? Thanks.

Thanks, miker. Everything suddenly fell into place when I closed and then opened Finale again (even though refreshing the page earlier did nothing!!)

Changing lyrics font globally...
I'm editing a composition that I originally notated using Finale 11 years ago (!!) with Finale 2012. Since it is an early eighteenth-century work, it has a figured bass; I used Ansgar Krause's Figured Bass font for Finale. The file has been automatically converted to the 'new file format' (I'm still...

cannot uncheck 'include in measure numbering'
For some reason, I cannot uncheck the 'include in measure numbering' in the measure menu, that is to say that when I do uncheck it and click on okay, nothing happens. When I open the menu again, the option is checked again. I've tried updating the layout and other options, but nothing seems to be wo...

How to check tempo in any given bar...
If I set a tempo using an expression, for example allegro = 120, how can I check if this tempo is maintained throughout the piece? I'm sure that in playback (Human Playback), the piece I'm working on becomes slower about halfway through. I've turned off 'rubato' and other playback features but I'm s...

Re: how to raise/lower an articulation...
Thanks Peter,
I was just using the trill symbol above the stave as an example. In any case I have managed to solve the problem using the Articulation Designer pane and choosing both the main symbol and the flipped symbol on note side only, and then specifying the distance.

how to raise/lower an articulation...
If I want to slightly raise or lower all occurrences of a particular articulation, for example a trill symbol, how do I do this? In theory, I know the procedure but if some of the articulations are above the stave and others are below, won't changing the increasing the V value raise the articulation...

Re: Removing plug-in from menu bar
Thanks motet. Had to experiment with different folders, but eventually found the right one: C:Program Files (x86) >Finale 14.5>Plug-ins>jwlua-beta-v0_54. The rogue plug-in has now disappeared from the plug-ins menu, and is only accessed through jwlua.beta.

Re: Removing plug-in from menu bar
It doesn't do anything, Motet. In fact that's why I wanted to remove it. I originally placed it directly in the plug-in folder instead of in a subfolder, and it wasn't working. After writing yesterday, I discovered an XML file on my PC, I copied it and put the copy on my desktop then removed the ori...

Okay, thanks very much. Luckily I don't have many dashed hairpins to insert, so I can just play around with the length and position using the handles.

Re: Removing plug-in from menu bar
My plug-ins, like Motet's, are located only in C:\Program Files (x86)\Finale 2014.5 (forgot to include the space!) I have definitely removed the culprit plug-in from the folder, but it still appears in the menu. It's a mystery!!
