If it happens again, try to delete the unwanted staves NOT from the score, but from the Score Manager window (just click the x next to the unwanted staff)

That seems to have fixed the problem...

That would make sense, because whomever wrote this did no formatting whatsoever, so I volunteered to format the parts. EXCEPT that I just went back to the original .musx file that was sent to me, printed to pdf the drum part, and got the same thing, as you see here: Btw, you said you printed to pdf ...

There is already notation in the affected bars...the ? boxes are in addition, and don't occur in any other section of the piece...

I noticed something else....

The clock in the playback window is wrong....the piece plays correctly in Finale, and is a few seconds shy of 5 min, but the clock thinks that it is really almost 7 minutes....

Does that ring a bell for you at all?

It happens on all files...trouble is I bought the program as a digital download, so I'm not sure where the plug-in would be now to re-install, maybe the Finale website?... Ok so I see what you mean now, but that is actually worse than opening the extracted part that I have already formatted....what comes up by choosing to Edit any given part is the raw file, before any formatting was done... It isn't the end of the world to have to edit the expressions, it's just that...
