Re: Keeping track of finale file version

motet, All I remember from the old discussion was that F2014(.5) was nice enough to associate both MUS and MUSX with F2014(.5) and that you could use the Nirsoft or something similar to remedy the situation and restore MUS to opening F2012. It may have been that the built-in Windows utility did not ...

Re: Keeping track of finale file version

I just did an experiment, and if you rename tune.musx to tune.wxyz, Finale will still open it. So, you could give your files an extension based on the version, e.g. tune1.f25, tune2.f14, etc., and then teach Windows that if you click on a .f25 file, open it in Finale 25, open a .f14 in Finale 2014,...

Re: No number showing on first ending in some parts

Thank you. I think my file had been updated on the dropbox, because I found a workaround, which was in the linked part, change to "top staff" Tried the url and got an error that I was not allowed to post urls, so that is why I did the .dot. spelling out. Not sure what you are doing wrong, but here ...

Re: No number showing on first ending in some parts

ronwass, I looked at your file, and for me, W10 F25.2, I see no problem with the 1st ending in Alto II part, measure 229. BTW: You can put any url between the tags and have it render as a clickable link. See the buttons at the top pf the edit box. Be sure to include the https:// for a dropbox url. T...

I have edited my previous post to be more clear. My bad! The way it was stated did not infer dragging a marque.

Re: See measure working on when zoom

I was not clear enough. Did you read the whole thread? The issue was discussed above. You cannot draw a marque around a portion of your document in order to zoom in and center the enclosed area on the screen unless you are in Page View.

Re: See measure working on when zoom

SHIFT right click gives the same result as PRESS scroll wheel. It temporarily switches to the Zoom Tool and zooms in one level. It does not work in Scroll view. EDIT: The word "It" was not the proper pronoun to use in this case. To be clear I have corrected my mistake below. However, dragging a marq...

motet, I did not catch that I wrote the Golden Rule instead of the Golden Ratio. I thought it was "Whoever has the gold makes the rules!" Peter, I omitted the mathematical details to save the reader's sanity. Since you bring it up, a few more details for the mathematically inclined. The Golden...

Re: See measure working on when zoom

Charles, this may be a Windows/Mac issue. On a Mac, CMD+SHIFT+Click will zoom in. But, IN PAGE VIEW ONLY, Zoom Tool>Click/hold/drag> will, in fact, zoom and enlarge the selected area. Nice tip, thanks! Even in Windows, (CTRL-)SHIFT right click hold and drag a marque, only seems to work in page view...

Re: Tuplet problem

Turning off "check for extra notes" is never required if using Simple and 9 (ALT-9 to set up tuplet) while entering notes in-line, QWERTY keyboard method or mouse entry. Nor is it needed using Speedy and CTRL-n for tuplets and the NUMPAD to enter notes. I don't use a MIDI keyboard for entry, so I ca...

Re: See measure working on when zoom

Mike, I think that is what Harpsi was saying with his tip. As it turns out, SHIFT hold right mouse button will temporarily enable the Zoom Tool where you can drag a marque around a portion of your document and release to enlarge and center the enclosed area to fit the screen. Harpsi said to use the ...

Re: Music Spacing Library in Maestro Default template

There may be other libraries that influence the final spacing in the default document that won't be there if you start with a document without any libraries. The "Document Without Libraries" actually does contain a spacing library, the so-called "Fibonacci Spacing", the same as found in the Maestro...

Re: See measure working on when zoom

If you use the Select Tool to select (highlight in blue) the measure(s) you are working on, it(they) will remain selected and highlighted in blue, when you zoom in/out. It may not be on the screen if zoomed in too high, but searching for it(them) will be somewhat easier, since it(they) will be highl...

Re: Music Spacing Library in Maestro Default template

There is currently no way to determine which libraries are loaded into a document. This has been a feature that has been wished for a long time. The paradigm used for libraries would have to be completely revamped if this were to become a reality. Consider the fact that loaded libraries are cumulati...

Re: Double-stop bracket

Jose,

Deselecting "Horizontal" just means that the line is not restrained to being only horizontal. All the lines in the selection dialog box are horizontal, but that doesn't necessarily mean they are horizontal once placed in a document. It can be confusing.

Re: Double-stop bracket

What are these "rar" files you are posting? Why not post a simple .mus or .musx file that anyone here can open? RAR is another compression algorithm similar to ZIP. In fact WinZip has supported RAR files for a long time. Not sure about the built in archiver in Windows though. You can download WinRA...

Re: Double-stop bracket

Jose,

As Zuill suggests, you have chosen the "Double-Ended Bracket Tool" to enter your line. You should have chosen your customized line. See the below pictures. Oops! "Choosen" in the text insert should be "chosen". I didn't proof read close enough. Sorry.

Re: Double-stop bracket

Has anybody been following my directions? It worked fine for me, the first time. Is there something you need to change? Entering a new line presents no problem, just as your directions suggested. I was trying to edit the line that Jose had already entered into his sample document. AFAICT, it cannot...

Re: Double-stop bracket

The single thin line in the file has vertical hooks that cannot be adjusted. I still don't know how that line was entered. However, selecting the last custom line in the list and double-click dragging, either horizontal or vertical, will place a thick line in the document with three handles, each of...

Re: Double-stop bracket

Jose,

Your hooks on the ends of the vertical line are also vertical, and are being overlaid by the line, so you don't see them. They are there though. I'm not sure how to make them horizontal like you want. I'm looking into it. Maybe someone smarter than me on this stuff will chime in.

In your own posts, sometimes there is a X (delete) between the EDIT button and the exclamation in the triangle, but not always. I don't know why it is not there all the time.

Yes, using the Selection Tool to double click on an object to select its underlying tool is yet another time I use the mouse quite frequently.
