Re: chromatic transpose shortcut
Yes, thank you - I do understand how to do it with the menu. I am just wondering if there is a keyboard shortcut, or if it would be possible to program one.

Re: chromatic transpose shortcut
When the notes are selected, I am able to transpose them up and down with the arrow keys - but they stay within the key signature. I'm hoping to transpose chromatically. I should also say the number keys seem to only do the transposition when the notes are not selected - I can't seem to transpose a ...

chromatic transpose shortcut
is there a shortcut for chromatically transposing? i know the up and down arrows on the keyboard will let you move a note or chord diatonically..

Re: Copying a phrase in one key signature and pasting into a new key signature.
I suppose one could make a measure key signature-less, post the new information, and then reapply the old key signature with no transposition.

Re: Copying a phrase in one key signature and pasting into a new key signature.
Well, the issue is that I don't want to transpose the entire measure back.. sometimes I just want to use specific chords that were in a different key signature. It could definitely be done manually, but it would be tedious..

Selecting the Lowest Note in a Chord
One frustration I repeatedly run into is when I've draw some lower notes and they start to enter the space of the staff below. I'm no longer able to click them directly because Finale believes I am trying to insert information on a different staff. I'm curious if there are any shortcuts for highligh...

Copying a phrase in one key signature and pasting into a new key signature.
I'd like to copy a phrase in one key signature into a measure that is written in a different key signature. I would like to preserve the original notes, though. How might one do that in Finale?
Thank you
Thank you

Splitting a Chord Across Multiple Staves
Hi -
I have some dense chords in a piano part. I would like to take the notes and distribute, one at a time, in the several staves beneath the piano staff. Is there a way of doing this in Finale?

Multiple parts, multiple channels.
Hi there - I've mainly only used Finale to do very basic scores - maybe 8 instruments maximum. I'm looking to expand for much larger ensembles, but I'm not exactly sure what path to take. I have a few basic questions: Starting with a piano score (fairly dense harmonies), I'd like to break it up into...

Hi Zuill -
I'm able to see what data has been applied - but I'm not able to edit it graphically. It looks like the tools are greyed-out.

The MIDI Tool functions seem to be greyed out, when accessed via the Studio View/Tap Tempo "Edit.." menu.

Re: tapping a tempo via MIDI In
Hi - Thanks for the advice last week about Tempo Tap/Studio View - I have been experimenting with it for the past week, but it is definitely a little challenging. I notice a can tap out a tempo on the space bar, using the HyperScribe/Tempo Tap functionality in Finale - but if I want to edit the perc...

tapping a tempo via MIDI In
hi - i'd like to input a MIDI signal into finale to dictate the overall playback of a score.. i've seen some descriptions of how it might be possible to have Finale take a "set" tempo, but nothing about whether there could be some kind of continuous input that altered the playback speed - is such a ...

Pitch Bend/Glissando/Etc.
Hi all - I'm currently using the smart shapes for the Tab Slide and Glissando tools. What I'm noticing is that the tools seem to calculate the playback of the bend according to a variety of factors. If the notes are short, it plays a sequence of notes, instead of a "pitch bend" - and if the notes ar...

accelerando (one more time)
Hi Everyone - I'm trying to create a gradual accelerando in Finale - but running into some challenges. As of now, I'm consulting this description for the "how to": https://usermanuals.finalemusic.com/Finale2012Mac/Content/Finale/Accelerando2.htm Although, I am using Finale 25, not Finale 2012. If I ...

Repeats and Endings.
Hi all - I am writing a short bit of music in Finale 25, for Mac. For the first measure, I add a Forward repeat. The second measure has an Ending (repeating on "1, 2" - the first and second times)...The third measure has an Ending ("3"). I'd like to repeat this pattern multiple times, though. Is the...

rhythm respellings
Hi - When writing music, I generally don't pay much attention to the beaming/rhythmic division. For instance, I have a bar of 9/8 that is an 1/8th note and 2 half-notes. I was told it would make more sense to write it as 3+3+3. Is there a feature in Finale that respells these rhythms according to wh...

Multiple VSTs
Hi everyone -
I am trying to use a VST devices for several different instruments in Finale.
I go into Score Manager and select it, and I give different channel assignments - but it seems to be accessing the same program. The plugin changes it universally.
Is there any way around this?

Polyrhythms, Barlines, Multiple Meters, etc.
Hi All - I'm trying to wrap my head around what seems to be a major flaw in Finale, specifically the inability to write contrasting, independent rhythms. If I have one staff playing a bar of 4/4 and another staff playing a bar of 5/4 - it plays "5 in the time of 4" - the two measures take up the sam...

Ah, well, I'm using EastWest libraries.. There are several instruments with Keyswitch-based sample sets..different keys access different samples.. I've been working with those..Is that what you mean?

Re: EastWest Play and Finale 25 (Beginner Question)
"KS 1" and "KS 2" were established in Expression Selection/Expression Designer under "Create Technique Text..." I simply added the text for the expressions, without using the Playback modifiers. In the HP Preferences, the technique is set to "Custom Text", with the filter set to "For text expression...
