copying TGTools options to another version of Finale
Does anyone know how to port TGTools options (not the defaults -- the other options you create for your own work) from one computer to another or from one version of Finale to another version? I have tried copying TGTools.fxt and TGToolsLE.fxt into the plugins directory but cannot access my large co...

Re: importing PDFs into Finale 25, 26, or 27
As it happens, Finale 2014 actually has a facility for importing PDFs. I tried it and had smooth sailing, but I was only importing a score made in Fin27 and exported as a Finale-created PDF. So it's not a good test for anything less predictable. In any case, if you have an old copy of Fin 2014 and t...

Re: importing PDFs into Finale 25, 26, or 27
Thanks. There was an older post referring to a $200 product by MakeMusic for converting PDFs, but I don't do enough PDF importing to make it worth the expenditure.

importing PDFs into Finale 25, 26, or 27
Is there some way to import a music score PDF into any of the newer versions of Finale? I'm trying to find some work around. I can import into Sibelius (very old version) using their facility to create an .xml file, which usually requires a good bit of editing, but I was hoping that someone on this ...

Re: font sizes for tempo, top and middle of score
I was just trying to build a better mouse trap.
But yes, I can copy all the tempo marks to a duplicate 'Tempo Mark 2' category, unfix the font, and create a separate score list.
Anyway, thanks again for your help.

font sizes for tempo, top and middle of score
The preferred method of tempo marking is about 14 pt. Roman fixed. In large scores the tempo marks would show above the score and somewhere within, usually above Vln. 1. Many scores do not use a fixed 14 pt. above a lower section, but either reduce it or allow page size to shrink the font for that l...

Re: flutter tongue playback
Thanks for the reply. I only have the very old Kontakt 3 and the very new Note Performer. Is there a way to simulate the flutter tongue technique using a keyswitch or other playback mechanism? I have tried a lot, unsuccessfully, but maybe there's some method that I'm overlooking. Alternatively, do y...

flutter tongue playback
I need help with getting Flutter tongue to playback.
Please excuse if this question is obvious from the Finale Help menu.
I've tried just the trill extension tool, but that gives a tremolo with the third above.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: TGTools menus lost off screen
When all else fails. . . . reinstall the software.
I did, and it even remembered the locations of my detached tool windows.
And . . . it found the missing Plugin/TG Tools submenus.
Thanks.

Re: TGTools menus lost off screen
I have had this problem with both Plugin-ins/TGTools submenus and with TGTools as well (Pro version 3.00rc8). If I ever find these menus again, I shall try to locate them in the lowest visible corner straddling both monitors. . . that is, if I ever find them. I can try deleting the registry key and ...

Re: TGTools menus lost off screen
I tried enlarging and reducing to 25%, maximizing, and also pulling the view across both monitors. I had this situation a couple of times in the past, and eventually I found the TGTools menu box hovering around the far edge. But such a hide-n-seek game is an unsatisfactory solution, and in this case...

TGTools menus lost off screen
I cannot find a couple of TG Tools menus. Is there a way to sort of lock these menus into a place so they can always be found? I use two monitors rotated to portrait position. In the past when I lost these menus I usually was able to find them by enlarging the Finale window. However, that isn't work...

Re: page size defaults to 'letter' when adding pages
Thanks. I checked. The folio size was already set in the score page format, so I can't see why it hasn't behaved itself. But the gremlin in the program knew you were coming to uncover its misbehavior, so when I added some new measures and pages, it decided to cooperate and keep the folio size. Darn ...

page size defaults to 'letter' when adding pages
Is there any way to set the default for every new page added to a score? I have an orchestral score in folio size. Each page addition defaults to 8.5 x 11 and cuts off the top stave(s). I don't see anything in Preferences or Doc Options that allows me to specify "keep the same page size" for the com...

Re: copy/paste guitar notes into tablature - in parts
Scroll or Studio View in the Score. . . .you can also create a Staff Set Staff Sets -- a whole new tool for me, as I've avoided Scroll view for large ensemble compositions just because it was too hard to see. Staff sets should help a lot with those bigger scores. It is really kind of you to think o...

Re: copy/paste guitar notes into tablature - in parts
In MIDI/Audio Menu, Device setup, Tablature MIDI Channels, if the box at the top is checked, that' could be your input problem. Uncheck that box. That is only used if you are inputting from a MIDI controller where each string is set to a different MIDI channel. If you're getting all the notes on st...

Re: copy/paste guitar notes into tablature - in parts
Thanks for your time in trying to solve this problem. From MIDI via either Simple or Speedy, I can't play a note that pops up as a fret position on the correct string. I would have to drag the number to the correct string and fret. Very slow method. Note Mover only gets me notes rather than fret num...

Re: copy/paste guitar notes into tablature - in parts
Zuill! You are brilliant!
The solution is to open two windows, one in score view, the other in part view. Drag or copy from Score view to the Tab staff in Part view!
Hallelujah! Wine into water after all!
Thanks, thanks, and Happy Thanksgiving, again.

Re: copy/paste guitar notes into tablature - in parts
Thanks for replying, so soon! Just to clarify: If I am in the Edit Part screen, I cannot drag or copy/paste from the Guitar to the Tab. This makes editing cumbersome and hard to see. copy/paste guitar notes into tablature - in parts
I have a score with about 12 instruments, including both guitar and tab. The tab staff is hidden because I don't want to see the tab staff in the score. For easy visibility and editing the tab, I created a separate part -- Guitar and Tablature only. I want to edit this " Guitar +Tab " part separatel...

Re: how to stop Finale from duplicating shapes
OK. At least you have confirmed that it is possible to create one instance of a shape that will not be duplicated automatically. I'm going to do some trouble-shooting and see if I can figure why this redundancy is happening. One possibility is that when I load a library, the shapes are duplicated ev...

Re: how to stop Finale from duplicating shapes
Hi and thanks (a lot). Please excuse if I've already submitted this. I think I was not clear above. I want to create one instance of Shape N, and I want to use it in multiple files. It is FINALE that creates the duplicates, not me. So eventually I may have 17 copies of Shape N, all of which look ali...

how to stop Finale from duplicating shapes
I have created about ten new shapes in the last five years. When I want to choose a shape for a new expression, I have 936 shapes (after deleting about 50), most of them duplicates of duplicates of duplicates. When I try to delete large groups of these shapes, I sometimes get an error message saying...
