Re: Buffer Size
I know it doesn't help - but I have exactly the same problem with my Focusrite 2i2 interface. Can only set the buffer size to 8 and the resulting playback is horrendous (unusable). Playback was always fine with my old Bose USB system using Direct Sound but that has now started having playback proble...

Re: Document Styles and Instrument Names
Thanks guys for all the input. I know my way round an SQLite database reasonably well, but I think I will follow the suggestion to start from a saved template rather than using the wizard.
Cheers,
Dave.

Re: Document Styles and Instrument Names
Thanks for the quick reply - but I had already tried that (several times...!!). Doesn't appear to make any difference.

Dave.

Document Styles and Instrument Names
Hello all, I'm using Finale 26 (26.0.1.655) on Windows 10. Ok, so I have created a Document Style file (saved as a .ftmx file in my user-level Document Styles folder) with some modified Instrument names (e.g. Flutes 1&2, Clarinets in Bb 1&2) etc.. If I reload that file directly into Finale, everythi...

Re: Finale 26 - "Server busy" error
I've not seen any progress or sign of a fix for this. I'm still using the workaround as described above.

Re: Finale 26 - "Server busy" error
Just in case anyone else is interested or comes across this same problem... I discovered that once Finale V26 is running, it is possible to re-start the Print Spooler and Finale will continue to work correctly (or at least I haven't found any problems in my testing and use so far!). Of course that m...

Re: Finale 26 - "Server busy" error
Many thanks fo the reply - but I'm pretty sure that isn't the case for me. All my disks are awake all the time! The reply from MM wasn't at all helpful. From what the support guy said it sounded like they knew about the problem but were not working on a fix. It was a case of "you'll just have to liv...

Finale 26 - "Server busy" error
Hi Guys, I have just upgraded to Finale V26 from 2014.5 (I never upgraded to V25). When I launch Finale V26 I get a 'Server busy" error box pop up containing the text: This action cannot be completed because the other program is busy. Choos 'Switch To' to activate the busy program and correct the er...

Re: Page numbers in parts with blank pages
Hi, Thanks for your suggestion - and indeed my 'blank pages' are title pages with the instrument name, title, composer etc., as you describe. I also recognise what you are saying about common custom - but I still prefer not to include the blank/title page in the numbering...!!! I do also hide the pa...

Page numbers in parts with blank pages
Hi Guys, I'm having a very frustrating morning and am hoping someone may be able to help me (again!)... I have a piece which requires blank pages at the start (i.e. the first page) of some of the parts - but not all of them - to make sure page turns are convenient. There are no blank pages in the sc...

Re: Correcting articulation positions
Thanks very much for your reply. It looks like a combination of your steps does indeed solve the problem. Sometimes the default stem direction isn't what you want (e.g. in a passage with slurred quavers where it looks neater to swap some of the stem directions so that the slurs lay neatly) and it do...

Correcting articulation positions
Hello, Please forgive me if I've missed the solution to this elsewhere on the forum - but I have searched before posting! I am using Finale 2014.5 on Windows 10. My workflow often involves scanning music using SmartScore 2 Pro and then importing the result into Finale. This works great but one of th...

Hi Mike,miker wrote:Dave,
No, my comments about scanning were not directed to you!
You might want to contact SmartScore. If you tell them you're unhappy, they may be willing to apply the purchase price of Music to XML to an upgrade to SSP. It never hurts to ask!
I did - and they will...!!!
Cheers,
Dave.

Re: Transposing instruments from scanned score
Dave, go through all the staves and uncheck "independent key signature." Everything should then be in C major. Then change the key signature to Eb major. Transpose the two horn staves down an octave. Finally, go to the score manager and set up transposition for clarinets and horns. I did this and i...

Re: Transposing instruments from scanned score
Thanks everyone for you comments and advice. Miker - I wasn't complaining about the results of scanning, I expect to have to do a fair amount of rework on an imported score. I was just asking for help on how to do part of that re-work..!!! (although reading your comments again, I'm not sure they wer...

Re: Transposing instruments from scanned score
Thanks for the suggestion - but that didn't work for me (assuming I understood your instructions correctly...?). When I add the transposition in the Score Manager that still shifts the note pitches (and so they end up wrong)....? What did I miss?

Re: Transposing instruments from scanned score
Thanks for the quick reply. I have attached a Finale file (.musx) after importing the MusicXML file. I haven't done anything else to it!
Dave.
Many thanks,Dave.

Transposing instruments from scanned score
Hello! Apologies if this question has already been answered - I have read lots of posts on handling transposing instruments, but not found the answer I'm looking for! I have a score (a Beethoven wind Octet) that I have imported into Finale 2014.5 (Windows) by converting a PDF file into MusicXML (usi...
