Miler you sound exactly like me before I got PL.
It works equally well on a brass quintet.

Re: Survey: Finale interface

I am afraid I don't share your same thoughts. I use, or I used to use TG Tools align dynamics, and JW Change and JW Polyphonic. I really don't care much for any of the others. However, on the scene now is Perfect Layout. I debated with Jan for a long while before I decided to give in any buy it. I a...

Re: Survey: Finale interface

Yup, I suspect you are correct, sir.

The nice thing about a plug-in is, if you love it and like it and use it great but if you don't, it doesn't change a thing otherwise.

Re: Survey: Finale interface

What I don't understand is, OK, leave the interface alone but things like JW and TG Tools and Patterson are real helpers. So why not have MM incorporate Perfect Layout? It is the same as the others a plug-in. I wonder how long did MM ignore JW or TG Tools or the others?

Re: Survey: Finale interface

that much we obviously agree upon
What we can agree on is MM needs to take a good look at this interface device and Perfect Layout. PL has changed the way I do stuff and I never thought it would. Finale seriously needs PL and it needs it NOW.

Hmm, I am not so sure. As I age 'gracefully' I would appreciate a bit larger icons. :D

Finale is forgetful

Finale 26 is forgetting one or some instruments when playing back. First playback always seems OK. Closing and re-opening it corrects it. I just trashed perfs which did not help. Anyone else seeing this?

Perhaps trashing Garratan?

Too bad the website has a bug: it is not expected that hitting a delete limit would silently fail...
I doubt it is a bug but rather a set limit by MM.

Re: Printing help

Well that probably isn't the correct model number. It was a laser printer and it was about the size of the Brother although it only did 8 1/2 x 11 and 8 1/2 x 14. The Brother does up to 11x17 ledger size, so does my HP. I could have bought any number of printers from Hallmark as they retired them fr...

Re: Printing help

The HP 6000(?) was a laser printer. My regular job for 40 years was for Hallmark Cards in KC. We had every kind of a way man can put ink on paper. I have either worked on or used just about every printer there is. Currently I have three Canon Pro 100 photo printers for my photography business. (reti...

Re: Printing help

I had an old HP 6000 (I think that is the model anyway) The Brother is head and shoulders better. I also have a HP Officejet Pro 7740. The Brother outperforms it too. I use a local print shop to make the finished product.

Re: Printing help

I have two large format printers and I never use Finale to print with.

My favorite of the two printers is my Brother Business Smart MFC-J6545DW. I doubt they make it any longer but I am sure they have a similar new model. I use CutePDF Pro and DoPDF registered.

Being in C-major key, Chord tool. entering C#m7 with MIDI Piano, it gets spelled as a Dbm7.

Re: Db6 instead of C#6.

Some people believe that to simplify the spelling is always correct. I strongly disagree. For example, in Girl from Ipanema, the bridge starts with Gb going to Cb. That is a circular progression. Finale wants to 'simplify" the Cb to B. That is totally wrong, and does not reflect the proper chord mo...

Re: Any marimba player here?

I am not a marimba player. I have received so many different opinions I am going to rewrite the marimba part or eliminate it altogether. Perhaps just a treble staff part. From "No problem" told to me by the music majors at KU to "It's a challenge" by some amatuer players around town. I don't ...

Re: Any marimba player here?

Here is the deal, I asked a music major at KU if he could play it and of course the stock answer from any of them is, "Oh yeah, I can play that." Than my normal marimba player saw it, for our local community band said it was "very challenging". Got me worried I wrote a too difficult part.
Thanx
