Re: Anyone else having trouble submitting a MM ticket?

Yeah, don't worry about it. "Due to the high volume of support requests" had me going for a minute, too.

Re: Programmable keyboards

Are you talking about MIDI keyboards or ASCII keyboards? A programmable keyboard is going to be dumb in that it can blast out a key sequence but can't see what's going on. You might investigate AutoHotkey if you're at all technically-inclined. It can wait for windows to open, look at window contents...

Re: Transposing help!

You might suggest to your horn players that they take a crack at transposing at sight--that's what most players do. For classical-era stuff like Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven, the written notes are almost exclusively limited to the overtone series--C G C E G Bb C D E G--so it's not as hard as it may ...

Re: Transposing help!

tcmschlosser, I didn't realize your piece had key signatures, which is unusual for horn in A (slightly less so for horn in E). Is it by Richard Strauss? The simplest thing then would be to add a new blank staff in the score manager. Change its transposition to Other and set it up for E transposition...

Re: Transposing help!

I know they [MakeMusic] are on this forum and have even posted here (Michael Johnson, anyway). Maybe there's a new interest in knowing what we are saying. And perhaps they'll reconsider closing the old forums when their new one fails to take off. It would certainly be to their advantage to have use...

Re: Repitch tool broken in 25.2?

I actually edit

SK001=65549 0 0 -1 -1 -1 34
SK002=65582 0 -1 -1 -1 -1 23
...
to change key mapping in Speedy Entry (using information obtained from Jari). I didn't know about the G numbers.

Re: Transposing help!

Again, if your goal is an F horn part, I would forget the Score Manager and the staff transposition. Enter the music as written into your F horn part, then transpose it with Utilities/Transpose (down a chromatic minor second to convert Horn in E to F, up a major third to convert Horn in A to F. Much...

Re: Forum basics

I thought I had posted here after communicating with the admin, but apparently having URLs in signatures is a spam-bot enabler. I wonder if BBCode is allowed in those profile fields. The administrator kindly made the topic with the chart a sticky one, so I can point people there when the need arises...

Re: Repitch tool broken in 25.2?

Some things are labelled, but there's a bunch of numbers as well, so I wouldn't take a lack of literal reference to the repitch tool as evidence of much. ... May I suggest that future such questions go in the "Forum basics" topic? That way, other refugees can find everything in one place.

Is there no way to put a url in one's signature? Motet's transposition chart

Re: Transposing help!

I use piano for the input sound no matter what I'm inputting and don't have v. 25, but those are probably advantages for most people. But "change to an instrument that's close and then modify" is cumbersome and has drawbacks. I would like to see MM flesh this out a bit--either by allowing customizat...

Re: Slash notation: How to get SMALL slashes

Document options -> Alternate Notation -> Music characters -> large slash -> select... small slash (No.243). I tried that but it only seemed to affect rhythmic notation, not slash notation. It works for me. * See the attached Finale document. SlashNotation.musx.zip However, the small slashes are pe...

Re: Transposing help!

I will post my chart here and link to it in my signature if I can figure out how to do that. Using "Change Instrument" to change to an instrument that doesn't exist is rather arcane; since I favor doing this with staff styles, I must admit I don't quite understand it. Does one change to an unused in...

Re: Missing F14 percussion midi maps - help!

You're right that in one case, the percussion layouts, deleting a layout just removes it as a choice, but in the other case you're deleting the MIDI map itself. I personally don't think it's worth it trying to neaten up like that. Also, be aware that if you've made custom MIDI maps and you move Fina...

In the Articulation Designer the articulation itself can be a character in a font, or a shape--Finale jargon for an object that can be made of of multiple lines, rectangles, circles, curves, characters, etc. For the trill in question, tr#, has the tr symbol and the # symbol. Shapes have their own de...
