Re: Multiple Tremolos

What you've shown there doesn't look like tremolos between notes, but rather simple tremolos on the same chord (moving the bow back and forth rapidly), done here with articulations and two layers. There's no 4-slash articulation, though, so you'll probably need to apply two for each tremolo (here I ...

I don't see why not. If the two are in the same category, then uncheck "Use category fonts" on the one you want to change.

Re: print publishing file types/specs

I don't know, but I'm guessing InDesign or other professional software can accommodate all common formats, so the question is one only of resolution. I think high resolution is always safe--it can be subsampled if need be.

I'll pass that on. But I don't understand it. Why don't the notes collide--whatever that means!--when they're not hidden?

Staff style fubar

Someone on Facebook reported this problem. The measures here are all identical. But look what happens to the spacing in the top staff when the one-bar-repeat staff style is applied and things are respaced. I only ever use one-bar repeats on single parts, but it shouldn't do this.

Re: Transposing Instruments + Playback

In the score manager under Transposition, check Hide key signature.

I'm not sure what playback issues, if any, you're having. Perhaps you should attach a file.

What are the lowest notes in both parts the arrangement? There is the issue of instrument range.

Re: Hiding barlines issues

Look at the measure attributes. There's a setting "override group barlines" that he's checked for the other measures.

This had me puzzled, too. Something this arcane I think is worth mentioning explicitly, I think.

Re: different bar lines per part in score

The only way I know of is by hiding the barlines and then adding them back in as expressions. If you want barlines between the staves, There's a group option to only do that. You could define such a group only for the bars where you want the potpourri.

Re: Unable to Erase a note

Gary Burton gets his Vibes to slide between notes, very effective. Wikipedia says Slide dampening can be used to dampen a note that is physically adjacent to the new note being struck. The player strikes the new note and then controls the rebound of the mallet so that it slides over and onto the no...

That may be the difference. I seldom copy, and almost never overwrite when I do.

I've never gotten an unwanted double slur of either kind, so we must be entering them differently.

Re: Flared Hairpins

To me, the flares are self-explanatory--"blat" certainly is not (if you're being serious). It's a big world, and you probably haven't seen it all. The fact that the flares are a feature of Dorico, and are in Sibelius's Opus and other music fonts should clue you in that the O.P. here is not reinventi...

Perhaps it's from a different genre than you have experience in--jazz, avante garde, who knows. I've never seen feathered beams or stemlets, but that doesn't mean they don't exist.

Boy, that's depressing. It means that whoever designed this didn't know anything about voices and didn't even bother to check with someone who does.

Re: Add staves w/o regrouping

You can add a blank staff with the staff tool. You'll have to set up the name and playback information yourself in that case. I think if you select a staff before adding, it will place the new one ahead of the one you've selected.

Re: Wouldn't it be great if Finale did what I wanted it to do?

I've seen slurs misbehave, but no one here seems to have heard of double slurs appearing on a copy. Since you say it happens to you with every file, when it happens again, please save a copy of the file and post it here--even easier than making screen shots. There are more resources here to explore ...

It's likely not due to a Windows upgrade. Check the suggestions above, try rebooting, and if none of it helps, try resetting the preferences file.

Re: Articulation positioning

I don't know of a plug-in. You can make duplicates for the stem side, and change their handle offsets such as they center over the stem. The offset should be the same for all of them.

I don't have the latest version, but I believe it has center over stem built in now.

Re: Wouldn't it be great if Finale did what I wanted it to do?

I agree mostly with what you say, Jay, and there's plenty of kvetching around here. As Michel R.E. says, seeing the file would have made the kvetching more productive. Perhaps someone would have discovered how to reproduce it--then it could be reported to Ma keMusic. They won't file a problem ticket...

All notes sound for me with these settings. I don't have Garritan Personal Orchestra--maybe it's deficient for this sound. Perhaps someone here who has it can check. You can probably find another vocal sound that's not broken and that sounds more like a person than a clarinet (which may not go as lo...

Looks like it's a feature in Dorico, though the rendering is not attractive, in my opinion:
