Re: Library import/ export misses user-defined categories
I just tried exporting expressions into a library, then creating a new document without libraries, then importing my library. It seems to duplicate the built-in categories with empty versions of the same name, and indeed it omits some of my categories. The omitted categories were called Whole Note R...

Re: Alternating Time Signatures
Set up two measures of this, then use the copy command to replicate those time signatures throughout the piece.

Re: Alternating Time Signatures
Finale lets you use a different time signature for display from the "real" time signature, so you can have alternating 4/4 and 3/4 measures, all using the same time signature for display, your side-by-side 4/4 3/4. To get that, use a composite time signature--for display--of 4/4+3/4, then in the doc...

The actual text block itself says "use the title as found in Score Manager/File Info, so you'll have to enter it there.

Agree "every other letter" is ambiguous. Maybe "first, third, fifth, etc."

Bizarre.
I like to do all non-music "desktop publishing" things elsewhere and combine them with Finale output in a PDF program.

Re: Is there a better way to handle enharmonic re-writing?
The best way is probably to do it yourself. You could use Finale or a plug-in to search for all B-sharps, say, but then decide to flip them manually or not yourself. Unless you have a multi-thousand-measure opera, say, this is probably not as daunting as it first may appear. (And if you're dealing w...

Re: multimeasures resetting despite edits
Only updating multimeasure rests where it matters seems like something they could rather easily fix. It certainly causes a lot of trouble. My own method is to leave the "update automatically" setting always off and start out with no linked parts--delete them if you have to. I then enter all the musi...

Right. The default is to have Show on top staff checked. You must have unchecked it.

Re: Missing Measure Numbers
In the measure region settings you've shown, check "show on top staff" (which should have been the default).
In the score, one generally doesn't want measure numbers on every staff, so "measure numbers" is unchecked in several of the staff attributes. "Show on top staff" overrides that.

You don't need a JW plug-in to swap layers. Edit menu, Move/Copy layers.

You could search for Explorer, but double-clicking on any folder in Windows will open it in File Explorer. This is from one of your posts:

Re: from .bakx to finale file
I suggest you treat .bakx files as they're intended: as an emergency backup in case you save your file when you didn't mean to, or accidentally do something without realizing it. It's good to have Finale automatically create them just in case, but I very rarely find myself using one. The couple of t...

Re: Can't get dynamic shortcuts to work on french laptop
You can reprogram those dynamic shortcuts ("metatools") to whatever you want. Hold down the shift key, press the new key, then pick the dynamic from the dialog. This is per document, so you might consider reprogramming the template from which new documents are made.

Re: PercNoteTypes.txt is missing or corrupt
Might be a file permissions problem. Try right-clicking the Finale icon and selecting Run as Administrator. If that fixes it, you might want to rerun the installation as administrator, which I think MakeMusic suggests you do.

Re: Backup in Finale 27
Installing Finale should have assigned .bakx to Finale, so I don't know what that didn't happen. Did you click "Mas aplicationes?" Do that, and hunt for C:/Program files/MakeMusic/Finale/27/Finale.exe. Or, open the file from within Finale from the File menu rather than trying to open it from Windows.
