Re: Two lines of chords under one system?
If the chords are different, doesn't that mean the music is different? You might be better writing it out instead.

Re: Ideal spacing for A4 size for a classical piano solo?
I loathe using manual adjustments, since they never seem to stay in place as I continue editing As N. Grossingink suggests, run spacing on the whole thing (after locking all the systems), then turn off Automatic Music Spacing, which is why your manual adjustments never seem to stay in place. If you...

Re: Notes play back incorrectly
The guitar bend does seem to be the culprit. Probably nothing to do with the file.

Re: older files: note values are inevitably messed up on playback
Measure 120 forward plays back fine for me--the beats are synced.. I don't seem to have whatever sound library you're using, but loading the Garritan instrument which comes with Finale is fine.

Re: Mystery menu
You're right--they added Next to the standard Windows thing; I didn't notice that. (Ctrl+Tab will take you to the next open file without having to pull down a menu, so is perhaps better. Ctrl+Shift+Tab goes backwards.) >How would Windows know or care about what I am doing in Finale? Finale and all o...

Re: Mystery menu
Its the same menu you get if you click on the Finale logo at the extreme upper left. You find this is the case in any Windows app. I'm not sure why in Finale it's replicated on the menu bar below that. Seems like a waste of space and serves no purpose.

Re: Mystery menu
Could be, but I still doubt it. The functions on the menu all have to do with manipulating windows (lowercase). The icon probably just reflects the icon of the program being run. Does it appear on other applications (with a different icon)?

Re: Notes play back incorrectly
What specifically is not playing back how you'd like it to?
Be very careful with the Edit Frame stuff unless you know what you're doing. "Ignore" seems to have to do with hidden notes.

Re: Speedy exit from Finale
"Close all" and exiting Finale trigger the exact same behavior. You might as well just exit Finale. As I said above, the unwanted behavior of asking to save unmodified documents was introduced over 10 years ago, and they surely know about it, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Not only might you save by mi...

Right, and one of development people there referred to Finale in his comments as "quaint" or "legacy" or somesuch (he was touting the web-based file sharing thing).

Re: Speedy exit from Finale
But "Close all" will still prompt you to save, which it sounds like he doesn't want. If you do "Save all" and the files haven't been modified, it will update the modification date of the file, destroying information.

Instead of the mouse, put your finger on the N key and press N to close each file without saving.

Re: notating rhythm, concerned the part will look weird
Well, it was trial and error to figure out the rest must be deleted before the dot would take. MM would do well to put an effort into cleaning up this mess. I've seen so many people flummoxed by tuplets over the years. And so many goofy work-arounds, including entering the rests elsewhere and copyin...

Re: notating rhythm, concerned the part will look weird
In Speed entry, you would just press Ctrl+3 (for triplet) and enter the three components (eighth rest, sixteenth note, dotted eighth note).

Re: Speedy exit from Finale
I don't know of a way. This is exacerbated by the fact that it asks you to save a file that hasn't been modified, as has been complained about for more than a decade. You could suggest it by probably you'd be wasting your breath.

Re: notating rhythm, concerned the part will look weird
Mike, I think you have the rhythm of the two notes reversed. I was able to do it in Simple entry QWERTY as follows (all numerals on the keypad) Turn off "Check for extra notes" 4 0 9 to enter the eighth rest and set up the triplet 3 G to enter the sixteenth note 4 B to enter the eighth note <right-a...

Try doing it from the Score Manager. Click on the Abbr. name button. In the Edit Text dialog, select the entirety of the name before using the Text menu to change the font and point size.

Re: resize tool bizarreness
This can happen when you resize things in the Page Layout tool and then later on new pages are created, which use the original settings in Document/Page Format. Don't try to fix it with the Resize tool. Instead, go to the Page Layout too, select one of the "good" systems, select Resize Staff Systems...

Re: Some chords not printing
Seems to be related to the "fretboard" picked for that chord. If I enter B minor manually, it's OK. If I use MIDI, the fretboard ID is some large number that's grayed out.
