"Create parenthesized accidentals using multiple characters"
Does anyone know what this new option on Document options/Accidentals does? It is not in the contextual help and I couldn't find anything in the manual. I tried it, but all it does is move parenthesized accidentals too close to the notes.

Re: Font issues in Finale 27
Yes, it looks like they screwed up yet again.
To fix it, Document/Category designer/Tempo Marks, click the Music Font tab and change it to EngraverText T, 12 point, and you should be good to go.

Re: Unable to hide staves
Glancing through your file, I didn't find empty staves, except as part of a grand staff, and on the last page where I was able to hide them. Which specifically are you complaining about? If I cleared music out of a flute system, e.g., I was able to hide it. You can't typically hide one staff of a gr...

Unchecking those two subordinant boxes won't change anything you've already entered, but otherwise, I believe it accomplishes just what you want. To fix the existing ones, after you uncheck those boxes, select the measures in question and pick MIDI/Audio->Retranscribe.

A tiny revision: D transposition (written down a major 2nd) is now indicated as built into Finale.

Re: automatically minimize system margins?
I've always wanted that, too. There's no way that I know of, but it seems like a straight-forward thing for a Lua script.
There is a "vertical collision avoider" plug-in (which I've never used) but it doesn't work on linked parts--the very place where you'd need it!

Re: 1st/2nd time dynamics with noteperformer 4
As I say, it still works with SoftSynth, so I don't know. I confess to not knowing how GIFF, Aria Player, NotePerformer, etc., etc. fit together. Since you're not using GIFF, there's hope, I guess. Try playing the file I've attached above with NotePerformer and see what happens. You can also file a ...

Re: 1st/2nd time dynamics with noteperformer 4
Thank you. This works for me (both dynamics are attached to the same note) in Finale 2014.5. I did set velocity = 127 for f and 10 for p so it was obvious. Works with GIFF and SoftSynth, both with "Play Finale through VST" ("Play Finale through MIDI" no longer works on my system), and with or withou...

I meant "shut down" as opposed to "reboot." If it's easy to remove the battery, though, that might be worth a try.

Re: waiting for playback to ... start
When you hit the play button with Human Playback, it first goes through your file and creates a bunch of temporary data, then plays it, then removes the temporary data when playback stops. I think you're probably write that it's inefficiently programmed. Something you might try--but I have not exper...

If using the SMuFL Finale Maestro font, they're around 0xe270. If using the Maestro font, they're in the separate font "Maestro Percussion." See the manual for how to achieve the proper playback.

Again, did you turn the power off? If something is loaded into a bank of memory, just rebooting may not clear it.

Re: Finale picking different Tempo Mark for Score and Parts?!?
I used to create a new piece by taking an old piece which had all my modifications and custom expressions, etc. and gutting it of music. I vaguely remember running into trouble doing this--it seems that the gutting nevertheless left some internal data which piled up and eventually caused strange beh...

Re: Finale picking different Tempo Mark for Score and Parts?!?
Check the copy filter and make sure everything is selected that should be.
If you're seeing both versions of the tempo mark in the same file, delete the one you don't want before copying and pasting.

Re: Finale picking different Tempo Mark for Score and Parts?!?
Looks to me like you have multiple expressions going on. Notice that in one case there's a space between the period and "Slower" and in the other case not. When you copy and paste, you must select the entire stack to have tempo marks and the like copied.

Re: Grace note combined with accent articulation
I think it's because Human Playback has a hard-wired notion of what an accent is. It looks like maybe you've added a custom accent to use the Engraver font. I don't know why it's not playing back the accented note when combined with a grace note (or it could be it's not playing the grace note--hard ...
