Re: Stems up in Rhymic notation
Apparently the stem settings for the staff don't apply to rhythmic notation. Instead, edit the staff style Rhythmic Notation, where you'll find a "stems up" option.

Re: Adding new instrument to score
You'll have to redo any changes you made to the preferences, that's all.
It seems Finale stores other state information in that file, and that's where the bugs manifest.

Re: "File not found."
Sounds like you accidentally deleted it. Look in the Recycle bin. There also might be a .bakx or .asvx file that will help. I hope you've made backups during those two years.

Re: Undertie 2 syllables
I'm not much of a lyrics user though I have used it some. It seems kind of ancient and flakey. Look in the lyrics window and see if you find your undertied lyrics there. You may have to click-assign them again.

Re: I just lost hours of work!
There might be a .bakx file that's usable, but you may be out of luck and your file may be corrupted. I'm guessing you accidentally hit some wrong keys--easy to do--or maybe hitting Ctrl-S every few seconds did it. Use the Autosave feature in the future--no need to constantly save. Every 10 minutes ...

I'm surprised that Note Performer doesn't do the correct thing with articulations pedal markings.

Re: Isolated MIDI tracks detuning on playback
Try going to the Selection tool, selecting all, then doing Edit/Clear Selected Items and pick MIDI Data (only). Sometimes pitch bend commands get in there somehow, especially if you entered music with your Roland or imported it from elsewhere.

Re: Adding new instrument to score
If you mean typing K to get "Keyboards" here, click on that column first. But you might as well just click Keyboards.

Re: Adding new instrument to score
I'm not sure where your pressing K (a Mac thing?), but if you're sure you're experiencing a sudden change in the way Finale's keyboard shortcuts work, try these things in order: 1) Restart Finale 2) Restart the computer 3) Reset All Preferences on the Preferences page If you've made any customizatio...

Re: A Possible Flaw In Finale
I think you're right that Finale is wrong here (I've never used Transpose All Key Proportionally myself). In my opinion Minor Key is best avoided in setting up key signatures. It can cause other problems as well--unnecessary key-cancelling accidentals at key changes is one, as shown below. I use Maj...

Re: Paste clef changes with entries
I agree it doesn't make sense. Does anyone one know what Copy Clefs When Clef Changes means? The documentation says "Choose When Clef Changes to copy the clef only when there is a clef change within the original selected region," but as far as I can tell that's not the case--it behaves the same as "...

Re: Paste clef changes with entries
Turn on the filter. Edit the filter in the source document, click All, and select Copy Clef: Always. Then copy, then paste into the target.

Re: Adjusting measure width
Such tweaking of measure widths or manual spacing is best done at the very end, after you are through adding music. Then you can turn off Automatic Update Layout and the Multimeasure Rests setting prior to tweaking.

If it used to work then you likely had the audio settings set to something different. Experiment. There's the audio driver as well as the output source. There aren't that many possibilities.

Re: Suddenly Slow to Load
Assuming you're running Windows Security, disable McAfee and see. But it's mysterious that resetting preferences would cause it. Does resetting preferences mess with the audio setup? If it's pointing to some non-existent device, that might explain it. In Preferences/Folders, are all the settings poi...

Re: Another bug I'm fed up with...
I don't know why, if you're checking "Do not change the number of systems on each page," it's changing the number of systems on each page. I just tried it with one of my pieces and that didn't happen, even though there were pages where more systems would fit had Finale been so inclined. I'm also ske...

In Space Systems Evenly, you probably want to check "don't change the number of systems on each page."

I'm not sure what you mean. If you use page breaks where necessary, then you can Space Systems evenly for all pages at once.

Re: Spacing issue when exiting speedy entry
Automatic Music Spacing is a good thing to leave on until you're doing final tweaking at the end. For your hymn I doubt you need to turn it off.
