Re: Survey: Finale interface
In the SS64 Support -- FAQ, it says: I select "Save As and Open in Finale" but nothing happens. If you have SmartScore and Finale properly installed and you see that the "Save As and Open in Finale" button is greyed ou (or if FILE > Save as and open in Finale is greyed out), then your copy of Finale...

Re: Scanning Program for Mac
Actually, the Smartscore Pro version handles unlimited staves, not 12. Recommend you take the time to learn SS even though it isn't the devil you know right now. It is designed to handle scans that may not be interpreted correctly whereas Finale builds its scores based on what you enter and creates ...

Login to your account and you will find V25 listed in the My Account page along with a Download button, everywhere else takes you to V26 from what I experienced. It is the full download including the Garritan sounds.

... No not in the least. BTW, Mozart would still be Mozart with or without Finale. No, his music would sound a lot edgier and angry brought about because he is composing on an old machine because his new one won't boot after an OS update. He just found out his expensive new 6-bit machine is going t...

Right!
The only benchmark that is truly valid is what you are trying to do on the machine. Sure the others are a reasonable guide but having blazing disk access speed is of no use if your task is not accessing the disk.

Re: Looking for an authoritative resource to settle a disput
Since there apparently is nothing in the authoritive resources, it shouldn't be too hard to find a well-known melody that when played would demonstrate the additive nature is obviously wrong - after all, music is all about what you hear.

Any chance you are running a "cleaning" program perhaps like Ccleaner that is set to delete log files?

What about selecting MIDI and then in the Device Setup -- MIDI Setup -- MIDI input/output window select "None" for the output.

I'm going to guess: Does it still have its original WD mechanical hard drive? If so, I can show you how to give this thing its Wheaties—big time. My wife has a similar machine except that it's an i5 instead of i7. When done, not only will it be faster but will run much, much cooler—the original HHD...

Doesn't the Compare page show SSX2 Pro as handling an unlimited number of staves, not just 24?

Re: Problems with TIF files
FWIW:
I've never used the Graphics Export but in Finale 25:
I opened the Finale default document
Graphics - Export Pages
Set type to TIFF
Set resolution to 1200
Finale 25 created a 638KB file.
Like I said, FWIW since it is F25.

Re: Cannot make Finale 25.3 the default program for .musx
I'm running W10 Pro, latest version. My Finale 2012 has been removed and I went from 25.1 to 25.2 to 25.3.
Double-clicking on a .musx file starts Finale 25.3 as expected.

Re: Special offer
I would say whether to download 1 or 2 or ... depends on your internet speed. I wouldn't want to do 2 on mine but if you have a good speed then who cares. I would download the install package, and install it on one machine. If it works fine then I'd copy it over my LAN or a USB stick and install it ...

B with a lesser preference for A; definitely not C which provides less visual information on where beats occur (4/4).

Re: Smartscore Music-to-XML imports scans, pdf, tif
Best thing is to try a demo version which does not allow you to save files to see how well it works for your particular use. http://www.musitek.com/demos.html You don't have to scan a PDF file, SS will open it and then treat it as an image. You can enter notation into the SS file but it is done by s...

Re: Slow screen (update layout)
I was Googling around to see if others have had similar problems and most of what I saw seems to be on Macs. I also noticed a post from you way back with Finale 2010 with the same problem and you'd just switched to an Intel i3 based computer and the problem still persists with it and to this day wit...

Hello from the wild wet coast of Canada! (Actually, in the spirit of full disclosure, it's +2C out, the sky is blue and Mt Baker is in the centre of my living room window, gleaming in the mid-day sun.) PS- For those who are interested, the dark, three humped hills close to the base of the volcano a...

How big is the score when you start noticing a problem. How many staves per page and how many pages?
