Re: split point
Your sample file is correct - most pianists can read a G below the staff. Moving it to the bass staff is wrong, gimmicky and amateurish.

Make a copy of the file and enter the slower tempos. Make as many copies and different tempos as you like.

Re: Tempo alteration (note1 = note2) expression dysfunction
Edit the expression's playback tab to set the tempo of the quarter to be the same as the previous dotted quarter. Doesn't that work?
This notation is used when going from a dotted quarter beat to a quarter beat, say from 6/8 to 2/4.

Re: Cresc / decresc?
Dorico does this automatically. They call it "messa di voce", a term I've never heard before in my 35 years in the business. It's commonly called a "swell", which is swell by me.

Re: Creative use of Finale
Do you have Illustrator? I bet it has a function or plugin that turns a straight line into a circle. Just enter the notation in Finale, convert to PDF, open in Illustrator and press the button. Yeah, right. The square sounds like it may be easier. Either circle or square, you're probably going to ha...

Re: Resize Noteheads Plug-in and Accidentals
Just curious - what is the reason for resizing noteheads and not accidentals? If it's to make the music larger, it's better to resize the entire staff for parts, or the system size for scores.

This is how Dorico does it, in my opinion the correct way. Unlike Finale, no manual adjustments and nice spacing.

No! The proper way is to contact LifeWay Publishing and ask to purchase the needed hymns.robertstiffler wrote: ↑Wed May 20, 2020 2:21 pmIf you have a friend in a big Baptist church he might give you a Finale file for an individual hymn.

Re: click on measure 1
How would I do that in Simple Entry, no MIDI keyboard? Someday, I hope that entering percussion is as straightforward as entering notes. If I understand and if I'm not wrong, you set up the Percussion Map for "Side Stick" sound on MIDI Note #37. Then you can enter with Simple Entry by whatever mean...

Go to the Score and delete what's there having to do with score/part names and enter a new "Part/Score Name" insert from the Text Menu. That should be it.

Re: "Peculiarity" in Smart Shape tool
Running the line through the wedge without masking looks fine to me. You wouldn't normally mask a barline in a piano part if a wedge passed through. Using the text cresc. might be better still - no need for any mask.

What music font are you using? It's not a Finale font. As an experiment, change the music font to Maestro, the standard Finale font (Document Menu > Change Default Music Font). If that doesn't work, attach a small sample file (those 2 measures)

Re: marcato
When the scores I work on use the directive marcato , it may or may not be clear where the style is to be "turned off" and is almost never notated. I think non-marcato makes it crystal clear. I agree that ord . may not be familiar to wind players. It's rarely if ever used in the band and jazz world ...

Re: Multimeasure Rests numbering on Single measures
I wouldn't use the multimeasure bar for the single measure rest. You can edit the MM rest to show as a symbol, which is the usual whole rest (Right Click > Multimeasure Rest > Edit). This seems to be standard.

It will work but Human Playback should be turned off, otherwise the program will crash. The complexity of the music doesn't matter.

Here is Peter's 2 text box suggestion. You can replicate the example you picture but you might have to spend a few hours of self-instruction mastering Finale's limitations and developing a workflow. There is a Finale file attached with some tips.
