"Common practice" says that the layout for each part must match all the others. There must be a good reason for that approach.

Thanks. I played around with your suggestions and got even worse results. It seems that Finale is not "reading" the colors set in System Preferences. Maybe it's an expected limitation.

Open up the Score Manager (Window Menu). At lower right, under Staff, change from Other to Standard 5 Line. Why this was made an "Other" staff I don't know. I'll leave that between you and the pastor.

How are you changing the Time Signature - with the TS Tool? There is another way - Selection Tool, right click where you want the new TS and select it from the popdown menu.

I'd suggest she purchase the latest version, which is Finale 27. She will be able to open the files made in Finale 2011 with little or no problem, and then save them in F27 format. I would suggest that you place the staccato dot in the staff and the tenuto above the staff, using 2 separate symbols. I think that placement is "standard practice". But only for pitches A, B and C. Just saying - you need to restart the computer after installing Finale or any other software.

Reboot the computer. If that doesn't work, refresh the Finale preferences as outlined here:

It works for me. Staff Tool, select all measures on the staves you want to hide, then to Staff Menu - Hide Empty Staves.

The Coda has an eighth rest on the first beat, so there's nothing to tie to.

If you write "Continue BD pattern", the arrow is not really necessary, is it? That's what "continue" is for. There should be handwritten arrow fonts available, usually free. Do a Google search.
