Re: copyrights format
The best way is to make a digital submission in PDF format as advised above. I think that this is the info you are seeking: https://www.copyright.gov/eco/faq.html#: The so called "Finale system" is unique to Finale. At this point, there are no music specific formats (mus, musx, musicxml, mscz, sib, ...

Re: convert old .mus MusicTime file to something current
Hi folks, I'm glad that this was useful. It took me about 20 minutes to do. I copy a lot of music for various purposes and I've gotten very fast at it. My workflow in Dorico is to work system by system in a two step process. The first step is to enter the notes of each staff in the system with my ri...

Re: convert old .mus MusicTime file to something current
Hi folks,
I've taken the image that Anne posted and entered into Dorico (fastest for me), exported it to xml, and imported it into Finale 25.5, the latest version that I have.
Hope this helps,
Chris

Re: Finale AND Dorico (maybe MuseScore, Notion Sibelius, etc. also)
Hi Folks, I meant to participate in this thread sooner but got really busy. The trouble with retirement is that you never get a day off! :D It has been a very interesting discussion. Here is a quick and dirty video I made last year for the Dorico forum outlining "out of the box" playback of Finale, ...

Finale AND Dorico (maybe MuseScore, Notion Sibelius, etc. also)
In response to Motet's suggestion, I'm starting this thread. The purpose is to discuss the various capabilities and limitation of both of these programs and how we use them in our various workflows. It will be very helpful to share our experiences as we go about our various notation projects. All of...

Re: How to do Baroque-style flourishes
Here is a good place to start on musical ornamentation: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ornament_(music) More specifically baroque: http://www.bachmusicology.com/?page_id=155 If you dive deeper, be prepared for a very deep hole! :D There have thousands of PhD thesis' on the topic and proponents can ge...

I got it for the audio editor and converter but it also has the same for video. It works and this is my first effort. I got it posted to FB https://www.facebook.com/eebiggs1/videos/2921249484577126/ in time for Memorial Day. Finale tells you what the time is as each page turns so all you hav...

Re: youtube
I looked up this StreamDeck XL and Notation Express... it adds quite a bit to the cost of Dorico. (in $CDN it's nearly an extra $400) I've grown used to being able to enter notes rapidly from my MIDI keyboard in Speedy Entry. And getting excellent playback directly from Finale with NotePerformer 3....

Re: youtube
If you don't require really fine control over the audio for playback and Finale's quirks don't interfere with your work, there isn't a real reason to change, particularly if you are a Windows user. Even if MM goes out of business, the software should continue to work. It may be a little different fo...

Re: MM's March 2020 newsletter
Hi All, MM was acquired by Launch Equity Partners, a venture capital fund, in 2013 and is no longer a public company. This means that the various disclosure regulations from the SEC no longer apply. I always felt that this was pretty thin excuse anyway. It appears to me that MM basically took their ...

Re: Tab Conversion thru Speedy Note Entry Not working Right
I noticed that in both of your files, you have it playing through MIDI on the MIDI/Audio menu. If you use Play Finale through VST instead, you have access to the banjo sound in Garritan Instruments for Finale. It still plays in the wrong octave though. :( I'll see if I can figure out how to get it t...

Re: Bartok Pizz Playback
Unfortunately Garritan Personal Orchestra AKA GPO doesn't have Bartok pizz either. East West's Symphonic Orchestra does but integrating EWSO into Finale and making it work well isn't for the feint of heart. I don't bother. I just export to midi and bring things into a DAW (Studio One these days) and...

Re: NotePerformer3 now available
Hi Folks, Its been a while. I just installed the Noteperformer 3 trail version and gave it a spin. It seems to work quite well. I tried it on a Mozart Oboe Concerto and Massenet's "Meditation on a theme from Thais" Was it perfect? No, but it is quite an improvement over Finale's own playback. I'm go...
