Re: How to set a Fine on a downbeat
I use a hidden expression (execute on pass x) to switch to MIDI channel 125.

Re: Parts, PDFs, & File Name Prefixes
When I want to save part PDFs in score order, I use a program called PDFwriter. It adds job numbers as prefix to each file, thus all PDF parts appear in score order in Finder.

Re: FinaleScript - Change Score name
There are some navigational issues in the Score Manager. If possible, use [tab] for navigation. And - most important - have the script to select the "File Info" tab in the Score Manager as the very first script action... It is easy to forget that the SM remembers that tab setting between sessions.

Is "Show Active Layer Only" checked? If so, try to uncheck it and see if there are [hidden] notes in other layers.

Doc opt window - strange behaviour
In the document options>layers window there is a checkbox: Consolidate rests across layers.
One should think that it is layer-specific, but changes made in one layer apply to all layers. Or am I doing something wrong?

Re: Finale - quo vadis?
Motet: What you suggest is just what I do when the music has some complexity. But most of my music is rather simple and uncomplex (for marching band, jazz band etc) where linked voiced parts mostly works just fine, but the shortcomings are annoying. My clients want better audio demos; with a tiny up...

Finale - quo vadis?
I wonder if anyone here on this forum has some insight in the whereabouts considering Finale's further development? MakeMusic seems to have stopped monitoring their own user forums, and the long standing shortcomings in Finale seem to be not handled at all. What bothers me the most: The MIDI editor ...

Re: Finale script, help
Glad that you made it work. General advice: Troubleshooting is a big part of Finale Scripting, and I find it much easier to find glitches when I run the script with the Script Editor open.

Re: Play second time only for repeats
The most reliable solution is to use (hidden) expressions to switch MIDI channel: Tacet 1. X [play on pass 1, switch to a unassigned channel, i.e. 125 or something]. —— «Play second time» can be a hidden expression [play on pass 2, switch back to the original MIDI channel]. Not my idea; one of many,...

Re: A Goodbye to Finale
I have similar complaints to violin makers. All my attempts to make music on those instruments failed. So I ended up playing the accordion.
Or could it be user errors and user shortcomings?

Re: Any way to play back gliss. from a tied note?
The solution is, as always in these cases: Use one muted layer for display, and another invisible layer for playback. You can make some kind of tuplet to avoid the use of a tie.

Why not simply adjust the chord baseline for that staff? Takes two seconds.

Re: Violin Scordatura notation/non-standard tuning notation
1) For Scordatura in a standard notation staff you need to put the G string notes in a separate layer. Then, assign an expression with playback effect Transposition to that layer. In Layer 1, create a new instrument and call it, say, Violin I. Assign it to Channel 1 and the GM Violin Patch 41. In L...

If an instrument signal is to low: Open the Aria player (which runs Garritan sounds) and check the mod wheel levels, which control CC11.

Why would anyone want enharmonic spelling that was inconsistent between score and parts? Sounds like a recipe for wasted rehearsal time ... Nope. I write for amateurs, and some parts are in multiple transpositions (horn in F/alto horn in Eb or trombone in bass clef/Bb- transposition treble clef, on...
