Re: Performance problems/painstakingly slow

One more possibility: Go to "Task Manager" while you are experiencing the problem. "Task Manager" will list all the applications that are currently running and the percent of computer time each app is using. You may fine something (app) running that you really do not need. You can close that app, an...

Re: What is the best mouse pad for note entry?

Finale Folks. I have a "Genovation" optical mouse that has a number pad and mouse combined. . It is good for simple entry using midi keyboard. I select the value of the note with my right hand on the number pad mouse, and then play the note with my left hand on the midi keyboard. My hands do not hav...

Re: Unwanted 2nd ending bracket at end of system

Finale Folks; This idea may be musically incorrect. The word Coda as shown, may cause a reader to go to the Coda after completing the 1st ending. I avoid that by putting a double bar at the end of the measure marked coda. Us old folks need all the help we can get to quickly understand the "road map"...

Re: Help with a new hymnal

Fellure: Just for information. Finale files for the current Baptist hymnal (all 600 pages) including full orchestrations has been published by LifeWay Publishing Co. years ago. It costs $3,000 +/- for the file. If you have a friend in a big Baptist church he might give you a Finale file for an indiv...

Re: Scanning Program for Mac

Finale Folks.
I still use "Sharpeye" for scanning. Sharpeye can generate an .xml file. I do not know if the MAC version of Finale will open a .xml file. My windows version opens the Sharpeye .xml file very nicely.

Re: hyperscribe

Finale Folks: I use hyperscribe quite frequently. I am a pretty good keyboard player, I also still use "Sharpeye" scanning program. My additional advise is: 1. Set the tempo really slow. 2. Mentally give the rests their full time value. 3. In 4/4 music I set quantize to 1/8 note, and set tempo to 8 ...

Re: Chord symbols for ukuleles

Finale folks.
I have complained about ukulele fret boards for years. Apparently Make Music could care less. I note that there are 1100 hits on your question. Maybe Make Music should pay a bit of attention.

Re: Sheet music apps

Finale Folks: I have same problem of latest revision of music for my players. I do the following to help. 1. On my Finale sheets I post the "File Name" and "File Date" in the upper right corner of each page of a song I am updating. I also include the revision level of that song in the file name. i.e...

Re: OT: Another clarinet question

Finale Folks I am not a classically trained clarinet player. I have played clarinet in a small town symphony for about 20 years. Am now retired and living in a retirement “hhooommmeee”. Also have been using Finale for last 20 years. In my opinion: 1. Writing a low Eb for a Bb clarinet today is never...

Printing layered note colorsd

Finale Folks: I have to write a vocal arrangement (four part men) of "When The Saints Go Marching In". These four guys are almost musically illiterate. I was thinking of writing each part on a different layer and getting a print out that had a different color for each part. I think I have done that ...

Re: question for a clarinetist

RMK Mr. RMK Item a) Subjective. Some throaty sound, but very little. In a moving passage, I'm not sure one could tell which (C) I am using Item b) My clarinet is dead on from tuning stand point. Item c) In my opinion pushing padded keys is easier than covering and uncovering 4 ring holes with the le...

Re: question for a clarinetist

RMD I've played symphony clarinet for lot of years. Now retired. Tell me why a professional clarinetist would not use my fingering. Some clarinets might have a tuning problem. My 50 year old Selmer does not. Also, keeping the right hand down on the (G) will make the (G) a bit flat. As a point of int...

Re: question for a clarinetist

HP
Good question

(G) is of course all fingers open.

To play the (C) use the following fingering:
1. (A) key, Left hand trigger finger: 2. plus (Octave key), Left hand thumb: 3. plus (Top two trill keys) , Right hand trigger finger. i.e.depress both keys together.

Re: Casio CTK-6000 MIDI input not working

If this is still a problem consider the following: Casio has a "high resolution velocity" feature that modifys the "key-off" command in the midi specifications. Google "Casio Keyboards High velocity Resolution", and understand about this feature. I have to disable this feature on my Casio PX-5s to m...

Re: Importing scanned score

I am an old duffer musician and retired electrical engineer. I was designing OCR readers to read electric bills in 1965. Started using Finale about 1995. I have not used the later scanning programs. I have used Sharpeye for many years and scanned hundreds of lead sheets, lots of piano scores and an ...
