Re: Triplet/multiplet between two clefs
Sure. Create your entire tuplet in the treble clef. Then with the note mover tool, drag the needed notes into the bass clef.

Re: "Proofing" parts/score
If you're going to proof everything, I would suggest to print it out. Proof hardcopies, don't proof on screen. I always find more mistakes this way.

This will probably make me look like a heretic, but in 2012 when I was moving from Illinois, I decided that the Coda disks and manuals were not going to make the trip with me, so they got tossed in the bonfire.

You might want to uncheck "hide first measure number in region".

Jim,
I think it might be helpful to you to watch some of the quickstart videos. You can start with "Add expressive text and markings to my document". This will show you how to add these markings to you score.

You could leave all measures empty, creating the multi-rests, then use the text tool to add chord symbols.

Re: Using Audacity with Finale by importing .wav files
I'll answer part of your question. I don't have Audcity, so I can't make any specific comments about that. But I do use a DAW, Logic, Mac only. You can export a midi file from Finale and open that in a DAW. In fact, with Logic, I can import a music xml file from Finale. It works great. I use a DAW f...

Re: Numbers not start at beginning of piece
It's a common notation practice to hide the first measure number in a piece. You can override that by going into the measure number region and unchecking "hide first measure number in region".

No matter how problematic Finale is, there's no comparison to writing by hand. I started out as a hand copyist in 1972. I had a copying job for a well known female vocalist and her new album, this was around 1982. I got the scores and started copying, full orchestra and rhythm section. I got a call ...

This was a while ago, but I was able to order specific paper for my needs. I went to a local printer, not Office Depot, or Staples, a real small business printer. He didn't have what I needed, but he gave me the name of his supplier. I contacted them and they were more than happy to help. I went to ...

Are all of the lower staves the same distance from the top staff? Or are they different distances? If they are the same, with the staff tool, click outside of the lower staff in in the left margin of system one. This should highlight the entire lower staff. Now drag the handle in system one to the c...

Re: Moving location of "technique text" function
Here's how to use metatools. In Finale's default document you go to the expression tool, technique text. You look at the "Pizz." entry. you'll see that there is a "P" in the upper right hand corner. In "Arco", there's an "O" in the right hand corner. The P and O are the metatools. To use them, switc...

Do you use metatools to apply the common expressions? Arco and Pizz have metatools already programmed into them. Using metatools is way faster than even opening the dialog box and selecting one of these techniques.

Sorry I didn't answer your post. I did sextuplets as you asked but I did not use note mover. I found it faster to just the Up arrow instead then I did you the beam tool to make the beams look better. Re: Tiling??
One solution would be to print your score at 11 x 17 to a PDF file. Bring that file to Staples, Office Depot, whatever, let them print a 11 x 17 paper copy for you. Another option, if you can print to legal size, print a legal size score, then enlarge it at a photo copier to 11 x 17. And your other ...

Re: Is it possible to combine two separate Instrument Techniques?
From my experience, you need to create a custom set of HP preferences which would contain the Garritan sounds you use as well as other samples like VSL. I wish there was an automatic way of doing this, but I think the easiest route would be to duplicate your Garritan preferences, give it a different...

If you drag the 3rd arrow, then only the lyric in that system will move. Other systems will remain as is. Make sure you're in the correct "verse/chorus/section" and correct numeric verse also before dragging the arrow. A quick way to switch between verses, with the selection tool double click any ly...

Re: Why are notes arrange that way
As John said, catching composer mistakes and correcting them is part of the job. Although it worked differently in different circumstances. When I would copy jingle recording sessions, I would automatically make the corrections and get the music on the stands. Time was of the essence. But when I cop...

It's correct, there's not too many notes. But the 11 note tuplet is a little deceiving because the "11" is kind of floating in space. I would move the 11 just beneath the beam.

Konrad, To move the rest vertically: while in the Speedy window, position the cursor over the rest, then press Shift 8. That should move it to the standard position. If you have the full TGTools, there's a plugin under "parts-join rests of multiple layers". Running that plugin would fix all of these...
