I know of no way of selecting a bunch of notes and saying "beam all these together," but that would be a nice feature.

There is a plug-in by Robert Patterson that does this.

My one annoyance with manual positioning is that it's difficult to get the mouse to constrain movement to vertical/horizontal movement.

The trick is that you have to start moving the item first, then apply the shift key.

No, they scroll up and down the page.

Home and end scroll backwards and forwards, respectively.

However, if you are in the print module, PageUp and PageDown do scroll as expected.

I have seen and played dozens of works for this combination including works by Bartok, Khachaturian, Martino, Krenek, Milhaud and Ross Lee Finney.

All put the clarinet at the top.

And don't forget its handy companion: FUBAR.
