Re: Page format - score
How do you download a luafile? I've never seen one of those. Once it's downloaded how does Finale find it?

Re: Page format - score
Wow. Thank you for that link. It not only shows me the correct way forward, but it also reinforces the ambiguity of these two functions. Even the person producing that video seems to agree that the page format and page layout functions are less than intuitive. Now, at least, know why I've been chasi...

Re: Page format - score
I've checked the page>format>score but nowhere is there a function to set all pages in that format. I've been through that menu a hundred times and thought I was double-checking the landscape format, but it only affects the first two pages and the first four systems of the score. I've had to do it m...

Re: Page format - score
Thanks again. I’ve been a Finale user for thirty years and this problem has vexed me for all of those years. The first couple of pages appear in landscape mode and the rest in portrait mode in a different sized font. I wish I knew the way to avoid this frustrating regular occurrence. Obviously my se...

Re: Page format - score
Thanks for your reply. I've already formatted the parts, so if I redefine the score format will that affect my part formats?

Page format - score
I've finished arranging a chart and am trying to create a quick conductor's score. The first two pages are correct in landscape mode but from page 3 on it's in portrait mode and I can't seem to effect any change through the page format page. What am I missing? Thanks for any help and suggestions you...

Re: Dynamic Placement
I did check out ebiggs score and it appears that PL placed the dynamics perfectly. I tried Motet's suggestion and adjusted the baseline of one of the parts. When I used meta tools after that to insert a dynamic in a section of instruments it, once again, placed some perfectly, some on top of the sta...

Re: Dynamic Placement
I have attached an excerpt of my score to this post. Try to enter a dynamic to the woodwinds at measure 13 using meta tools and you'll notice that the vertical placement is all over the place. Some are in the correct position, but some are placed right in the staff or too far below the staff. I've e...

Re: Dynamic Placement
Thank you all for your time and input. I did return my settings to original and it made a small difference. I'm still baffled by some idiosyncrasies with it though. Using the meta tool method I input a dynamic on flutes one and two in my score and the dynamic appeared perfectly in flute one. In the ...

Re: Dynamic Placement
Geez, I'm back already. After I made that thank you post I got back to work on my concert band arrangement, and while the meta tools enter dynamics brilliantly I'm still having an issue with some of their placements. Again some of the dynamics appear correctly, while others are 'way too far below th...

Re: Dynamic Placement
Ah, Motet, you have save me once again. I feel kinda dopey after trying that and seeing how beautifully it works. I've used meta tools forever, but only on one part at a time. I had no idea that I could mass enter dynamics the same way. Like it said yesterday I love learning new things about this pr...

Dynamic Placement
I've read many of the posts on the topic, and tried using the settings that were offered, but I'm still having a devil of a time getting them to appear where they ought to be. I'm especially having issues when I use the selection tool to enter dynamics for a number of instruments at a time. Some of ...

Garritan Jazz & Big Band voices?
I recently bought a new laptop to enable me to write while on the road. While the Personal Orchestra voices loaded in perfectly I can't find where to add my Jazz and Big Band voices which I purchased years ago. Where do I need to go to download those voices without having to pay for them again? Than...

Why do trombone and euphonium parts transpose?
I've noticed that whenever I copy a phrase into either a trombone part or a euphonium part Finale drops the copied part one octave. The score manager settings in both trombone and euphonium are set for no transposition, I can't think of where I might find a place where I can 'neutralize' this. Any h...

Re: Hiding empty staves
Yup. I'm officially a dumb-a$$. Obviously, I had forgotten That line under the Staff Tool window, and was counting on the checked box in the Staff Attributes window. Thank you, so much, yet again for your time, knowledge and patience. I can't tell you how much I appreciate all three. Have a safe and...

Re: Hiding empty staves
I'm not disputing the excellence of Finale. I've been using it since about 1993, and wouldn't be without it. Motet in that last post you included a tiny excerpt of the score that showed the collapsed piano part in the score. On my PC I can hide staves in the score. It's when I try do that in the pia...

Re: Hiding empty staves
Thanks for all of your replies. That chunk of music was just a small excerpt so as to make the file small enough to attach. That two bar measure with the bass clef hidden was from page one of the original score, and were the last two bars on that page. The bulk of the systems came after on pages two...
