Re: Timing in Poetry and Oratory
I find that there are at least two ways to listen to and copy a series of sound events with drum sticks. One is to use drum rolls and drum paradiddles at the like, while the other is to tap out the events with perceived durations without confining them to musical note durations. The latter might see...

Timing in Poetry and Oratory
I wonder if Finale has a function that takes loudness only from the computer's microphone and produces a succession of notes, all of the same pitch or as a drum line. Some orators have remarkable word timing that is hard to translate into a series of note durations. Some of these passages are more c...

Re: Double Suspensions
John Ruggero,
Thank you for this encouragement.
Would it be convenient to name a piece that uses double a suspension?

Yes, you diid. Thank you.
Do you consider double suspensions potentially useful to the drama of new musical compositions?

Re: Double Suspensions
Z.png motet, This one does not have a missing fifth of the chord in the output. There are plenty of these, either ending in 1,3,5 of the output chord or only 1 and 3 of the output chord. There are seventh chord double suspensions also. I am very familiar with using the bass cleff. I just don't need...

Double Suspensions
Here are a couple of Double Suspensions: Y.png Pleasse notice that Y.png has a suspension chord containing pitches A, B, C, and D. The A and C resolve to G and B to form a complete G major chord. I have not found double suspensions described on the Internet. Does anybody have information about these...

similar intervals
I went looking among music theory sites and it was a waste of time for this issue. I found out that what was called a parallel fifth in 1970 is now called a consecutive fifth. My unanswered question is whether there is, or still is, a prohibition against similar interval other that similar thirds an...

Re: A suggestion for future versions of Finale
I'm sorry to say that I have not been able to change the clef from a bass cleff to a G clef. I can't see what to do with the cleff tool. I tried many things, but nothing changes. What is the secret?

A suggestion for future versions of Finale
Finale could be more convenient for composers who do not use musical instruments. A am retired and, presently, I don't even own a musical instrument. I write the notes and export the music as a sound file for listeners on the Internet. I am no stranger to the instrumental trappings that are now simp...

Naming the author after the creation of the file
I created a Finale score and got quite far in writing the music before I realized that I skipped the section that named the piece of music and my name is not on it as the author. I cannot find that section. Is there a way?

Re: Volume control
Jetcopy, Thank you for alerting me to the videos. The method demonstrated for adding dynamic marking works and it is different from the method explained in the instruction manual. The markings appear correctly and the sound plays according to the markings, but I found no way to undo those markings e...

Re: Volume control
N Grossingink, Thank you for your message. I started another score to see if a minimal of settings would clear up the problem. It is one violin and I wrote a bunch of measures of notes. Then I highlighted the last few measures. Then I clicked on the Plug=ins and selected the expression tool and then...

Re: Volume control
Bill, I am trying to change the loudness markings (like mf and ff). How do I use the expression too? It gives me no opportunity to click on a measure. The Finale instructions seem to ask me to highlight the measures first. At any time in the process, if I click on a measure, it beeps at me. I have v...

Re: Volume control
Bill Stevens, Thank you for this message. I was able to find out how to change the dynamic marking. I highlighted the measures I wanted louder. I went to Plug-ins > Expressions > Auto-Dynamic Placement. In the resultant menu, I chose mf and applied it. when I got out of that menu, mf was applied to ...

Volume control
How can one instrument be made louder temporarily ( for a few specific measures)?
I looked on line for the finale manual on the subject but found no results. Is this possible in Finale 26?
Thank you for your help.
