Re: Another bug I'm fed up with...
It's weird that it happens. The next time I catch it, I'll upload that file.

Re: Another bug I'm fed up with...
Oh, no, it's not changing the number of systems. It's doing nothing. As in, I run the tool, hit enter, and literally nothing happens. I should sit and try to figure out why it happens, but of course, my first guess would be that I have the wrong page number selected, but I usually have the right pag...

Re: Another bug I'm fed up with...
Oh yeah, I mean it happens when I'm on the last page. But I start at 1, throw the systems I want on that page, move to 2, etc., then when I get to the last page I hit the tool, and the idea is that it will just leave all the systems where I want them, space them all at once, and I have to run it onl...

Re: Another bug I'm fed up with...
That's the setting that doesn't always work. I THINK it's if I'm doing this from the last page (though I've not yet tested it to figure out what's causing the bug), but sometimes it works, and sometimes, nothing happens. Then I just have to specify how many systems on that page instead, even if it a...

Re: Spacing issue when exiting speedy entry
Yeah. It seems like something I wouldn't have messed with. I haven't done much work for the clients that this setting might benefit with much in the last 5 years or so, so I'm not sure why it would have changed.

I actually never used page breaks, honestly. Maybe I should try it.

Re: Spacing issue when exiting speedy entry
You're right. If it WAS me that changed it, it was well over a decade ago. The funny thing is, I've not had this computer for nearly that long, and I just installed the most recent Finale a few months back. Unless Finale keeps profiles of the programs and moves these kinds of settings around, but I ...

Re: Another bug I'm fed up with...
Interesting. The last part is basically my current process, too. Manual space individual pages. But I'd love it if I could drag them to the right page, open the tool and just hit "enter" (because "do not change..." is already selected) and move on. It would be quicker than having to type in the numb...

Another bug I'm fed up with...
I guess today, when it comes to some of these bugs that I just got complacent with, I'm just saying "enough!" Space systems evenly tool: Sometimes, I manually drag the systems to the page I want to be on, so that I don't have to think about each individual page, then check "do not change the number ...

Re: Spacing issue when exiting speedy entry
Thanks! Hate to be that guy, though, but it turns out that Automatic Update Layout was the one turned off, not Music Spacing! I don't think I've turned that off on this laptop, but I'd be surprised if I didn't mess with it on my desktop in years past...but I figured new versions (or new computers) w...

Re: Strange spacing between voices?
Go to Document Options/Music Spacing, and set Manual Positioning to Clear. Then select all in the Selection tool and respace. Then set Manual Spacing back to Ignore. (Whatever that means--I've never understood that setting.) This must have happened as you were entering those parts, but I couldn't s...

Re: Strange spacing between voices?
Yeah, it was in the trombone voice I did it. Baritone and cello were copied over. Yeah, I'm torn about that cello part. I know it's out of range, and I know they meant it to be a bass part on the bottom, but we all know bass transposition, too. I'm probably going to just clear out that bottom octave...

Re: Strange spacing between voices?
Also, the only thing I think that could have happened here, was that I started entering layer 1 notes into layer 2, and when I caught it (on page 2), I just finished it out and used the move/copy layers tool to put them in their right place. The stem directions were all wonky (which, again, is somet...

Re: Strange spacing between voices?
Oops, yeah, you're right. I don't know why I said voices...I've only come across voices once in 20 years, and I don't even know how to get back into the voices tools without looking it up!
But yeah, this file is incredibly small, anyway. So here it is.

Spacing issue when exiting speedy entry
This was never a problem before...2011? I think? It started somewhere around 2014 or so, and I figured at some point it would be fixed. It never was. Issue is when I'm entering notes via speedy entry, then switch tools, the spacing does not update. The workaround is to use the "fit measures" tool wh...

Strange spacing between voices?
I've never seen this before, and the voices are far enough away from each other that this should be needed.
Usually the beats are properly aligned unless something is a second apart from another voice. Not when they're a third or fourth apart.

Re: Is this a bug? Spacebar+click to play
Ah, finally I know what happens and why sometimes playback starts on bar 1. Now that I know, I think that is a good feature... Peter I'd prefer it if it was on the left margin rather than right on the barline. I have no clue how I'm so precise (when I miss the mark on other things so very, very oft...

Re: Is this a bug? Spacebar+click to play
I see now. I had to zoom way in to get the cursor right on the barline, but I can confirm that if it is, it starts on bar 1, and I can confirm also that if you click left of the staff, it starts on bar 1. As RimasG says, click in the middle of the measure where you want playback to start and you wo...

Re: Is this a bug? Spacebar+click to play
Basically, if the mouse pointer ends up right on the barline like this when I click: https://i.imgur.com/J5sBEf7.png Also if I click anywhere from the key signature on left. In either of those cases, the playback will start back at measure one. It's recreatable on here with the most recent Finale. M...

Is this a bug? Spacebar+click to play
Certainly seems like a bug and nothing done purposefully. I tend to use spacebar+left click on the mouse to begin playback at a certain measure. If I click at the beginning of the measure (which is very easy if it's on the left margin), the playback begins at measure 1. And while it's easy to happen...

Having Finale write out chord comping
I have a client that really just wants a chord chart for her band, but she doesn't know it and wants me to write out the piano part for this ballad. Any kind of movement in upper voicings on this keys part, she doesn't want. Just whole notes all the way through. It's kind of frustrating to have scul...

Oh! I keep forgetting about checking plugins. Looks like there's a syllables positioning reset, as well.
Thanks for the lookout!

Chord/lyrics baseline reset to default--has this ever been fixed?
I know that chord and lyrics baseline adjustments never had an option to reset in the past. I'm doing a lot of work where I'm just using previous files for clients as my template, and I still don't see a way to reset these baselines, which should have been addressed at some point in the 30-something...

Re: Hiding a staff within a part
That's what I thought. How disappointing, but if it's the first time I've come across this problem in 25 years of Finale, I doubt it'll happen again.
