Niente decrescendo hairpin

What is the simplest way to put a niente decrescendo (hairpin ending with a circle) into a Finale 27 document? Thanks!

Re: Cue notes in linked parts with "specify voicing"

Thanks everyone for your replies. All were very helpful. Given my needs for this score, I think I’ll avoid voicing this time.

Cue notes in linked parts with "specify voicing"

I created a linked part from my full score using "specify voicing" in the "Manage Parrt" window. I chose "This staff in the part will display . . . all notes in Layer 1 only. Now how do I add cue notes that will show up in the part but not the score? Thanks!

Re: Can Smart Shapes be assigned to layers?

Thanks. I'm going to eliminate the expressions and smart shapes I placed above the staff and all will be well.

Can Smart Shapes be assigned to layers?

I have a full score where flute 1 and flute 2 are on the same staff. Flute 1 is in layer 1 and flute 2 is in layer 2. In the score, the expressions and hairpins have been entered to appear above the staff for flute 1 and below the staff for flute 2. I am able to assign the expressions for flutes 1 a...

Thank you for taking the time to let me know Peter. I didn't know that feature existed. It worked perfectly.

Saving a score as an 11x17 PDF

I have an 11x17 score that I need to save as an 11x17 PDF. I have been able to do this in the past, but, for some reason, it's not working now. All the pages are set to 11x 17 in the Page Layout tool. Under Page Setup, it is formatted for "Any Printer" and the page size is listed as "Untitled 11.00 ...

Re: How to Customize the Main Tool Palette

Thanks. I thought there used to be a way to customize pallets in the “window” drop down menu. Was that only for Windows or did that go away in Finale for Mac?

How to Customize the Main Tool Palette

Is there a way to remove tools that I never use from the main tool palette on a Mac running Finale 27. There is no "Customize Palettes" in the Window dropdown menu.
Thanks!

Re: The Wrong Staff Moves

Thanks Motet. I really appreciate your help! You wrote: When moving a staff, it always moves the top staff selected and everything below it, so there's never any need to select more than one. And you can only move up and down, not left and right. So lay off the Option key and you'll be fine. I know ...

Re: The Wrong Staff Moves

Thanks everyone. I think we now have a solution. What worked for me is: in the staff tool hold down option key click on the staff handle (not on the first measure of staff) do not release the click, and drag the staff up or down My problem was I was clicking on the first measure. To move a staff ind...

Re: The Wrong Staff Moves

Zuill, Thanks for your post! I tried what you said and I dont seem to be able to select just the staff handle. If I click on the staff handle every measure on that page on that staff is selected. If I click within the first measure of the staff, it only selects that measure. I can't get just the sta...

Re: The Wrong Staff Moves

Hi Peter,
I tried the zoom but it still doesn't work properly for me. I can only re-space certain staves if I show all the hidden staves. At least that method works. Why it doesn't work with the staves hidden remains a mystery. Thanks!

Re: The Wrong Staff Moves

Hi Peter,
Thanks for your help. Attached is the score with the notes removed. When I hold down the option key and try to re-space only one specific staff, a different staff moves instead. Can't figure out why this is happening, except that when I show "hidden staves" it all works fine.

Percussion Font Help Needed

Somehow I accidentally changed the percussion notation font for my Djembe staff and now it shows nothing but squares with question marks. I haven’t been able to figure out how to return it to its original readable font. I would be very grateful for any help on how to do this. Many thanks! Mac Mohave...

Re: The Wrong Staff Moves

If I try to move (respace) only the sus. cym. staff, the finger cym. staff moves instead . . . because there are hidden staves. When I unhide the hidden staves, I can move the sus. cym staff just fine.

Re: The Wrong Staff Moves

Yes. I was trying to move the staff the way Motet and the manual said to do it, but it didn’t work properly until I “showed” the hidden staves.

Re: The Wrong Staff Moves

Thanks Miker. I just tried it. If I show empty staves for that page, it works fine. Is that another Finale bug, or is there a way to avoid having to show the empty staves in order to move a single staff?

The Wrong Staff Moves

I am trying to re-space a single staff in a large orchestra score. Using the staff tool, I select the first measure of the staff I want to move, hold down the option key and start to drag that staff up or down. Instead of that staff moving, a completely different staff (4 staves higher on the score)...

Re: O/T-ish: harp pedals

Stanley Chaloupka’s excellent book, “Harp Scoring,” has an appendix on “Making the Pedal Tracker.” Might be exactly what you need.
