Re: Time signature change, dotted quarter equals quarter?
The expression you have used (dotted quarter = quarter) can be defined to have an effect on playback. Edit it, use the Playback thumbnail and in Type -> Tempo, enter the new tempo. Thank you, michelp. I am learning a great deal through the instructions I am getting from the members of this forum. O...

Re: Time signature change, dotted quarter equals quarter?
Sorry. Can you define the "Playback thumbnail"? Is that the playback control panel at the top of my Finale window?michelp wrote:The expression you have used (dotted quarter = quarter) can be defined to have an effect on playback. Re: Time signature change, dotted quarter equals quarter?
That's a nice picture, but we can't tell anything by a picture. By a file, I meant a Finale file. Zuill This is what I meant by "I don't know how to upload a file to the forum". More specifically, I don't know how to "create" a proper file for uploading. (I am a complete newbie to both Finale and t...

Re: Time signature change, dotted quarter equals quarter?
Here is the file I wanted to upload earlier. Some measures later, it reverts to 12/8, with quarter note equals dotted quarter.
Playback is currently inaccurate. The tempo doubles as the time switches to 4/4.

OK. Here is the file I had intended to upload earlier. Some measures later, it returns to 12/8 with quarter not equals dotted quarter.

Re: Posting an attachment to forum?
Thank you, miker. But I am not asking how to "upload" an attachment, but how to "generate" the attachment from selected measures of my score. I use a Mac, most of the time. Due to MIDI interface issues, I use Finale in PC mode, (bootcamp). I would expect to take a screen shot of the measures in ques...

Posting an attachment to forum?
Finale v. 25, Windows 7 64 bit, (on Macbook Pro running "bootcamp")
If I wish to post, (to the forum), several measures from a long piece that is currently a Finale project, what is the most direct way to do so?

Re: Time signature change, dotted quarter equals quarter?
Hmm! I am now seeing that the "dotted quarter = quarter" option circled in red, (in miker's post), is not available in my expressions selections window in some of my musical pieces. Does this mean that the options, from song to song, have changed while I was working on each individual piece? As a "n...

Time signature change, dotted quarter equals quarter?
Finale version 25, Windows (on MacBook Pro in bootcamp), Windows 7 64 bit. I am new to Finale. While exploring various drop down menus, I saw a tool for placing "dotted quarter equals quarter note", (when changing 12/8 to 4/4). Now, I need that tool, but can't remember what menu it was in. It is my ...

Re: Removing a Slur
Thank you, Motet. However, problem solved! Being a Mac, there isn't an obvious "right click". I connected my external mouse and have now found lots of options that were previously unavailable. I thought that "click", plus either "control", "option" or "command", would equal a "right click", but my m...

Re: Playback Tempo Finale 2012
Thank you, Peter. You answered my question, but I can now see that I asked it incorrectly. When I first defined my piece, I was given the opportunity to add the name of the piece, the composer, lyricist and even an initial tempo marking. An online tutorial said that I could go back later to make adj...

Re: Removing a Slur
I have tried using the "select" mode. I can get it to put a dotted line around the slur, but delete does not remove it. (I DO have a delete key on my MAC.) Also, in both "shapes"and "select" modes, I have selected and highlighted every one of the handles, trying to delete it. Two additional pieces o...

Changing template details in a pre-exisiting piece.
I am using Finale version 25. (Newbie!) I want to change a few things that were set when I created my original template. The tutorial says that I can change some details and values, after the fact. However, I don't see how to get to a dialogue box that will let me do it. ( I am not finding the "expr...

Re: Removing a Slur
I, too, am new to Finale.
On a first try to create a score, I used slurs instead of ties. I cannot delete the slurs. (Yes, they are slurs.)
An online tutorial says to highlight the slur's handle, then hit "delete". However, this doesn't work for me.
Any suggestions?
