Re: Another Error Code 7 thread
I now get this every day, and the end of my patience with Finale is now in sight. That light brightening at the end of this dark tunnel is the exit.

Re: Hyphens all over the place
In my practice, this is not a realistic way of working.

Re: Hyphens all over the place
This at the moment is a huge problem for me, and the lyrics window won't open large enough or let me scroll deep enough to try to locate (never mind replace) the lyrics. I can get 3/4 of the way there cutting and pasting into and out of a text editor, but it mucks up other subsequent verses in other...

Re: Stanzas on midi export in wrong order
I think I will indeed try that on a copy of the original file. It does play back in correct order - and everything exports properly from a music xml rebuild, so somehow this file managed to get itself corrupted, or is caching something that got stuck. (I'm not sure how Finale works, but I am on Sono...

Re: Stanzas on midi export in wrong order
I had to use music xml - but unfortunately that means re-formatting 128-bar score. I can't have a separate score for audio and print production, too many versioning errors. A mind warp, no?

Re: Stanzas on midi export in wrong order
I say stanzas as this project involves choral work, let's talk about measure groups. In the original setup, e.g., measures 17-32 originally had harmonization A and measures 33 to 48 had harmonization B, ergo A-B. I've swapped them (via cut and paste), so the harmonizations in the score are now B-A.....

Stanzas on midi export in wrong order
This is stránge. I re-ordered some stanzas for an alternate version of an arrangement, swapping vv 2 and 3 and inserting a 5th. But the MIDI export still retains the old order. I'm trying not to recreate a fairly large build in a DAW, and this is really messing up my day. o_0

Re: No Vibrato
Since this thread is still active - totally no go on NP, it sounds so synthetic. I have tried a couple of libraries and settled on one, which I use in a daw (easier). But one big thing I discovered in creating my small sections is using the Garritan solo instruments with associate players. Remarkabl...

Re: Using Finale w/DAW, CineStrings or the like
My workflow is as your original post notes - I compose in notation, export MIDI to a DAW, and then build my audio session there. I find for instant feedback, Garritan and GPO are perfectly fine for the purpose (some GPO instruments I also use in the DAW). In the DAW environment, you will almost cert...

Re: Philip Rothman interview with Jason Wick, MakeMusic director of product development
Touting integration with eduction...interesting that I am taking a class at a nearby college, and they have ditched Finale for Sibelius. (Seems a little weird, but ed tech said Sibelius is faster zero-to-sixty, and is easier to teach.)

Thanks. I found that control but before I resaved all these documents (with interference from some kind of pdf bug) I thought I'd find out what the kids these days are doing.

Clefs on first staff only?
I just noticed after my recent Finale update that all my parts are printing with only a clef on the first system of every page - somehow this came in as a default, something did not occur (nor did I think about) through 27.3. I suppose this won't matter on any instrument that only needs a single cle...

Re: Can't figure out why a multimeasure rest is breaking
I've got the same issue - a split measure breaks the multimeasure rest. Finale takes the 4 bar and cuts it int two, 3:1.

Re: Measure numbers showing on hidden staff
@miker, you're always there to help. for some reason a reboot fixed it - except for a rare hiccup, Finale has been rock solid for me for quite a while now so it took me a long time to figure out that one of these 20 or so apps I have open now might have been a problem.

Measure numbers showing on hidden staff
Not only is the staff hidden, but measure numbers are turned off.
When I add a new staff, no matter what or where it is, the same conditions apply - I simply cannot turn them off on those measures, either. A staff style doesn't work either. I'm baffled.

Re: PDFs in 27.4
I spent more time in detail with the two workarounds and overall the graphic tool actually retained more font information. Preview drew and printed correctly. Easy. But in editing, there were font substitutions as Finale is sending over Times (not new roman) but my vector program let me substitute i...

Re: PDFs in 27.4
Using the graphics tool, my vector editor (affinity designer, sim. illustrator) queried me for fonts. Using preview, the fonts remained with the file. In terms of time, probably a draw.
edit: get it? illustrator? designer? draw?

Re: PDFs in 27.4
On the Mac
Print > PDF > in dropdown, select "Open in Preview". There's your PDF.
It will be in a software print cache, but in Preview's menu, you can 'move' it anywhere you want (which, of course, is a form of saving). I sent to a friend via email, and they were able to open and print it.

It was me - in the latest update to the DAW I was using I had to activate the tempo track that had clearly come in as previously.

Is it me? Finale 27.4.1 didn't send a temp track with the MIDI
I have had a temp track traveling with previous midi exports from Finale - but with 27.4.1, I can get either the midi OR the tempo, not both.

Re: No Vibrato
Huh. Suddenly this has become a big problem for one of my mockups, which demands nv in one passage and is ruined by the inherent vibrato. Though not a problem in the score since I can mark it that way, it seems like an oversight not to have sampled nv pitches while the performers were in the studio....

Re: Mark Up a Score?
Here's my note to self, Tim Davies style.
In scroll view, your text blocks will be red, even when you switch back to page view, and they attach to measures. right click and uncheck 'show' to make them non-printing.
