What worked for me was locking the spacing adjustments. When you're done tweaking, go to the "Utilities" menu, select "Lock Systems," and choose "Lock Spacing."

Totally get your struggle with the smart shape tool. As of my last check, most music notation software doesn't have a built-in feature for mass edits with smart shapes like crescendos across all staves.

Cubase is limited for scoring; use Dorico for a dedicated solution. Export Cubase files as MusicXML for Finale. Dorico, by Steinberg, integrates well with Cubase. Try different software like Sibelius to find what suits your workflow best. Happy scoring!
