Alternating Time Signatures
Hello all, To start, have you all ever played or heard "Third Suite" by Robert Jager? Well, regardless if you have or haven't, I'm looking to do something like he did as attached. vuxt161gx7db1(1).jpg What's the best way to do this while actually having the measures switch back and forth between the...

How to Change Note Recognition with MIDI Keyboard
Hello all, So my problem today has to do with MIDI input using my keyboard (a Yamaha P-45, if that helps). My problem is that I'm trying to play notes differently from what the program reads. Such as, if I want a note to be a G#, Finale programs it as an Ab. Such as the example I attached. This is a...

How to have muted instrument in Playback?
So, this might be an interesting question but here we go: So, I'm looking to have Finale in playback play muted instruments, such as a muted trumpet or in my situation, muted piano. This is NOT to be confused with muting instruments in the mixer. I'm looking to get the effect of a muted instrument i...

"Opp.?" What is this Dynamic?
So, I have a very strange question, and it doesn't necessarily relate to Finale, but I need to go to a place filled with musicians to answer this question because I cannot figure it out, and my buddy and I have asked every music professional we know and we have nothing. In my buddy's bass solo, Eleg...

Fermata Playback
Another short and sweet question. How do you change the duration of a fermata? I'm arranging a piece for a Woodwind quintet that has a fermata over a rest for everyone. This is obviously meant as a short hold, but the playback holds it for what seems like forever. This is annoying when I playback an...

Re: Tempo Change for Rit. and Rall.
Ah, yes, this makes sense because it does the same thing with crescendos/decrescendos and regular dynamic markings. Thank you!

Tempo Change for Rit. and Rall.
My question is very simple and the solution should be possible by a normal capability.
I want to change the speed for a ritard and I checked the manual and it's just not clicking or I'm on the wrong thing. I don't know. I want my rit. to slow down more. How do I do that?

I have attached a file stating and showing what I mean. I should also state that this needs to happen to play through VST and not through MIDI

How to make One Instrument Sound like Another Instrument
So, I'm arranging a score for my Jazz Ensemble and I'm having sound issues. The drum kit isn't correctly labeled. The middle line of the staff plays and notates a woodblock hit when it should be a floor tom hit. I know you can change the noteheads, which is fine when I give it to a musician, but I w...

Stave Clashing
I'm having trouble in Finale where on my score a lot of the instruments qualities are clashing into other instrument's staves. Stuff like crescendos in the middle of a Trumpet staff, Bass Clarient notes below the staff on top of an Alto Sax staff, Flute notes above the staff on top of the Piccolo st...

Reassigning Playback in Drum Kits
I'm trying to write a Jazz chart and I'm having an issue with the drum kit. I want to input a Tom 3 hit. Now, normally on a staff, a Tom 3 hit would be the middle line on the staff. However, in Finale, the middle line is used as a woodblock hit. I know how to fix the notehead, so it at least looks c...
