Thanks for the suggestion Motet! I'll keep it in mind for the future. Bill's answer was the one I needed.

Note with no pitch
I'm writing a choral score and need to put in notes with no pitch. I'm using SATB staves, no percussion. Is there a way to enter an un-pitched note in a choral score?

Re: zero beaming
I appreciate your detailed comments. Thank you - quite helpful. Perhaps I should explain why I prefer zero beams in some situations. Over more than 60 years I've sung with community choirs. The vast majority of members of these are not musical professionals and many have only rudimentary music skill...

Playback: change Speed yet preserve Pitch
In choral rehearsal it is often helpful to playback a section at a slower speed. For example, a fast, melismatic section of 16ths & 8ths, it would be nice to slow it down to 75% or even 50% and record that as a practise MP3. Is there a simple way of doing this?

Re: zero beaming
Thanks to all who responded. It was very helpful, and I couldn't find anything in the user manual about this. A note to David Ward and Buon Tempi, as I write I'm looking at a brand new (Barenreiter) score of the St. Matthew Passion (JSB), 8ths and 16ths are NOT beamed when they fall on a single syll...

zero beaming
In choral music it is common for all 8th & 16th notes to be un-beamed, so as to allow for precise positioning of syllables in lyrics. An example is attached.
I would love to be able to turn all beams off permanently for some pieces. Is there a way of doing this?

Re: Volume discrepancy between staves
Thanks for your advice. Each of the four staves is assigned to a different channel: 1, 2, 3, 4. The mixer shows different values - e.g. 60 for the top 3 staves and 100 for the Bass. Yet nothing changes coming out of the speaker. (Haven't tried headphones yet). Playback from other sources is not affe...

Volume discrepancy between staves
In a choral score, when I enter the same note in both the tenore and bass staves, the tenor sounds the same as the S & A, but the bass sounds much softer. e.g the tenor might sound mf or even f, while the bass is mp or even p. Hope you helpful guys can help me fix this

Modify the user interface fonts
I've used Finale for many years (currently using ver. 27.3) almost exclusively for transcribing choral works. On the whole I've been a very satisfied customer, but I'd like make changes to the user interface. Especially I'd like to change the Times New Roman (TNR) fonts to something that my aging ey...

How to skip/omit a rehearsal letter in auto
It's been customary in 'classical' scores to omit the letter J as a rehearsal mark. I'm guessing that this is because in Latin J is I. When using auto-sequencing of rehearsal letters (very useful BTW) I seem to be forced to hide letter J by dragging it off the page. This works but is not very elegan...

Strange looking Smart Shapes!
Current version: 27.2.0
My smart shapes have started looking strange, especially slurs: (see attached image).
This seems to have started after I created a new smart shape following instructions.
I've tried everything but can't get rid of it. Help someone please!

One piece after another
I'm using v.27 and creating choral scores. When one score ends near the top of a page, it leaves as much as 3/4 of that page unused. I would like to begin my next score right after it, on the same page. Can this be done?

Choir aahs: change default to piano
I don't like 'aahs' for the voice sound. It doesn't sound at all natural and most choral vocalists rehearse with a piano. Every time I create a choral piece I have to change the sound in the instrument list from 'aahs' to piano, and this has become a pain in the b***. Is there a way to premanently c...

Bizarre formatting problem
I'm having a bizarre formatting problem when I try to set up (per wizard) a document with Maestro default font in Page View (all subsections of that) but not in Scroll or Studio Views. The staves show 'nromally for a brief half second and then this series of black lines appears. Maestro in Page View...

Ah! I think I've figured it out! It's a bit arcane though. The Multiple Time Signatures page in the manual wasn't easy to find. Thanks again.
