Re: Unwanted repeated notes

I have got an answer of the customer support of MakeMusic: I would agree that the use of the sustain pedal is likely related here. As you mentioned, it is likely catching that data and placing extra notes at the beginning to replicate the sustain. One thing I would recommend would be trying to make ...

Re: Unwanted repeated notes

I just want to play back what I have played to make a recording. Far in the past I used Midisoft what was very fine for me. It is silly to change the file to get back what I have played. Sometimes it is almost impossible to fix it. Maybe I need another program. It is a pity I still have no all-in-on...

Re: Unwanted repeated notes

I guess I am not the only one with this problem.
What are the right options in Finale?
Today I had to correct a file. It takes a lot of time again. It is very frustrating, :(

Re: Unwanted repeated notes

I also think the sustain pedal has an influence. Apparently Finale sees held notes as new notes. When I lengthen the notes in my correction of the file it sometimes leads to a reverberation as if the pedal was held too long. I can solve this a bit by using the pedal when recording an mp3. Another so...

Left what Finale had made of it.
Right my corrections.

I need to erase some notes which I haven't played and lengthen some notes.

Unwanted repeated notes

How can I ensure that Finale plays back exactly what I have played myself? I keep finding that Finale repeats notes (which are actually notes from just before the barline that sound longer), often at the beginning of the next measure. I then have to correct these notes by either tie them to the note...

Re: Sudden harsh tones before barlines

I think I have found the solution.

I had checked the option Tie across barlines under HyperScribe.
The problem no longer appears to be taking place.

Re: Sudden harsh tones before barlines

MuseScore is by no means an alternative. It is a notation program too, not a program to make representative MIDI files.
I will look for an other MIDI sequencer program. In the far past Midisoft Studio was a good program for me but it not available for Mac OS.

Re: Sudden harsh tones before barlines

Thank you again. I will try MuseScore, not a very practical program. My goal is to make recordings of free improvisations without choosing a tempo or a meter/time signature in advance. By making "scores" in Finale it is easier for me to perform them again. Maybe I want to make scores in the future, ...

Re: Sudden harsh tones before barlines

Making MIDI files was just the reason why I purchased Finale.
So I need a new program again.

Re: Sudden loud tones before barlines

Thank you for specifying the problem and the suggestion how to solve it. Yes, it is the release of the sustain pedal with a stoppage, a sudden “harsh” note or chord as result. I can’t reproduce it of course but I am quite sure that the sustain pedal release was not intended. The problem always occur...

It would be helpful to see your file, if you'd like to upload it here. It need be only a couple of measures which illustrate the problem. Without that, we can only guess.
Here is an example. At the end of bar 11 a sudden cutoff.

This might be a HP issue. Try it without HP. If that is better, you might also try experimenting with using the Apply HP feature, and then exporting to MIDI.

Thank you. I will try. I guess you mean "No HP effect", without Human Playback.

Sudden harsh tones before barlines

Normally I use Finale to make midi files without concerning the tempo in Playback Controls.
Many times Finale seems to "correct" some notes just before the barlines. The result is a sudden short loud tone.
I don't see how I can change this.
